  • Patent number: 11253832
Abstract: A catalytic cracking system in which liquid hydrocarbon and bio-oil are directed into a reactor riser of a fluid catalytic cracking unit by separate feed spray nozzle assemblies. To protect liquid bio-oil directed through the liquid bio-oil feed nozzle assembly from high temperature degradation, an insulating layer is provided between a central bio-oil feed tube in a concentrically surrounding atomizing gas passageway. Cooling channels also may be provided in the spray tip of the bio-oil feed nozzle assembly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 10, 2020
Date of Patent: February 22, 2022
    Assignee: Spraying Systems Co.

  • Patent number: 10882062
Abstract: A hydroprocessing system having a processing vessel that discharges a high temperature effluent that must be cooled prior to collection in a reflux drum. One or more gas assisted spray nozzle are provided that utilize light atomizing gas having a density of 8-15 times less than air, such as hydrogen, which preferably is the processing or recycle gas of the system. The spray nozzles are designed for the efficient atomization and direction of cooling water into a micron sized droplet distribution utilizing the light atomizing gas for affecting higher mass and heat transfer from the effluent. The spray nozzles each include a unique atomizing gas and cooling liquid passageway systems, a downstream impingement post, and a plurality of discharge orifices which sequentially breakdown the liquid into micron sized droplets as low as 500 microns and less.

  • Patent number: 10279360
Abstract: A steam atomizing liquid spraying system which in the preferred embodiment includes a spray nozzle assembly having a central liquid passageway for coupling to a liquid supply and a plurality of spray nozzles each removably mounted in the nozzle body and having a respective central steam passage communicating with a steam supply. The spray nozzles each further have a plurality of circumferentially spaced liquid accelerating passages that communicate with a respective angled passage of the nozzle body which in turn communicates with the central liquid supply passageway for directing liquid into the central steam passage of the spray nozzle for interaction with steam directed through the central steam passage and atomization of liquid discharging from the spray nozzle. In an alternative embodiment, a single spray nozzle insert is utilized.

  • Patent number: 9168545
Abstract: An internal mix air atomizing spray nozzle assembly having a nozzle body that defines a central liquid flow passage, an air guide for directing pressurized air within the nozzle, and a downstream air cap having an upstanding impingement post and a plurality of discharge orifice defining passages about the impingement post. The air cap passages each are oriented at compound angle with respect to a central axis for discharging atomized liquid flow streams in a conical spray pattern swirling in a predetermined rotative direction about the central axis, and the impingement post has a diffuser cap that defines a flat central liquid impingement surface and an outer annular array of non radial diffuser veins for directing the atomized liquid and pressurized air in a swirling fashion about the impingement post in the same relative direction as the swirling spray pattern from the air cap passages.
