  • Patent number: 10790524
Abstract: An electrochemical device includes at least one electrochemical cell, including a membrane electrode assembly and bipolar plates through which at least one discharge manifold passes, the membrane electrode assembly including an active zone and a connection zone; at least one hydrogen sensor including an anode positioned in the connection zone and including a catalyst suitable for ensuring the oxidation of the hydrogen, and a cathode opposite the anode; a voltage source; a current sensor; and a computing unit, suitable for detecting the presence of hydrogen from the measured value of the electric current.

  • Publication number: 20190226097
Abstract: The invention relates to a water electrolysis device including a membrane-electrode assembly that includes a proton-exchange membrane and an anode active layer that includes an electrocatalytic material. The water electrolysis device further includes a water inlet collector and an oxygen outlet collector, a straight line connecting the water inlet collector to the oxygen outlet collector extending along a general flow direction. The water electrolysis device further includes an anode facing the anode active layer. In a section along a normal to the straight line, the anode has points that each have a combined distance with the water inlet collector and with the oxygen outlet collector, the combined distance for a first point at the periphery of the anode is at least 10% greater than the combined distance of a second point positioned on the straight line.

  • Publication number: 20190020082
Abstract: The invention relates to a reversible electrochemical system intended to operate alternately in electrolysis cell mode and in fuel cell mode, comprising: a primary device of which: the primary anode (13) is suitable for carrying out an oxidation of the water (OER) originating from a first anode port and an oxidation of the hydrogen (HOR) originating from a second anode port, and the primary cathode (15) is suitable for carrying out a reduction of protons (HER), and a reduction of oxygen (ORR) originating from a second cathode port; a secondary device of which: the secondary anode (23) is suitable for carrying out an oxidation of hydrogen (HOR) originating from the primary anode and an oxidation of hydrogen (HOR) originating from the second anode port; the secondary cathode (25) is suitable for carrying out a reduction of protons (HER) and a reduction of oxygen (ORR) originating from the second cathode port.
