Abstract: The present invention relates processes of removal of acidic gases from a gas stream, comprising the steps of a) contacting a wash solution stream with said gas stream containing acidic gases to be removed to allow absorption of the acidic gases into the wash solution stream; b) withdrawing wash solution enriched with acidic gases from said wash solution stream at a first withdrawal level; c) cooling said withdrawn wash solution; and d) reintroducing said cooled wash solution to the wash solution stream at a first reintroduction level to form a mixed wash solution stream, said first reintroduction level being upstream of said first withdrawal level. The present invention also relates to systems for removal of acidic gases from a gas stream.

Abstract: The present application relates to systems and processes for removal of gaseous contaminants from gas streams. In particular, the application relates to a process for removal of gaseous contaminants from a gas stream comprising contacting the gas stream with a wash solution to remove gaseous contaminants from the gas stream by absorption into the wash solution; and regenerating the used wash solution to remove gaseous contaminants from the used wash solution, to provide a regenerated wash solution and a gas comprising removed contaminants, wherein in a first regeneration stage the gas comprising removed contaminants is cooled to minimize loss of water vapor from the regeneration step.

Abstract: A system (10) for absorbing and thereby removing at least a portion of an acidic component from a process stream (20), the system including: an absorber (22) adapted to accept a process stream, wherein the absorber employs an absorbent solution to absorb an acidic component from the process stream to produce a rich absorbent solution (24) and a process stream having a reduced amount of said acidic component (20a); a regenerator (26) adapted to regenerate the rich absorbent solution, thereby producing a lean absorbent solution (28) and a semi-lean absorbent solution (30); a solution outlet (50) fluidly coupled to the regenerator to facilitate removal of at least a portion of the semi-lean absorbent solution from the regenerator; and a control mechanism (56) coupled to the solution outlet, the control mechanism adapted to control an amount of the semi-lean absorbent solution removed from the regenerator.
