  • Patent number: 8118799
Abstract: A disposable garment for absorbing human exudate is disclosed having a first attachment member and a pair of second attachment members. The garment has a front panel, a back panel and a crotch region therebetween. The garment is folded to enable the pair of second attachment members to be secured to the first attachment member and form a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. A pair of frangible sections is formed in the first attachment member at locations outboard of the side edges of the front panel. Each of the second attachment members can bridge across one of the frangible sections and be removeably secured to the first attachment member to form an easy to open disposable garment.

  • Publication number: 20040225271
Abstract: A disposable garment for absorbing human exudate is disclosed that includes front and back panels. The front panel has a pair of side edges and a first attachment member secured to it that extends beyond the pair of side edges. The back panel has a pair of tabs each containing a second attachment member. The garment also includes an absorbent assembly secured to the front and back panels. The absorbent assembly is folded to enable the first attachment member to be secured to the pair of tabs to form a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. A pair of frangible sections is formed in the first attachment member at locations outboard of the pair of side edges of the front panel. The pair of tabs can be folded to allow each of the second attachment members to bridge across one of the frangible sections and be removeably secured to the first attachment member to form an easy to open disposable garment.

  • Publication number: 20020165517
Abstract: A pant-like, prefastened, disposable absorbent article having elastic and/or extensible components to provide a Percent Fit Range of at least about 33%, more desirably about 80% to about 150%. The disposable absorbent article has prefastened fasteners to allow for easy donning of the article. After initial donning of the article, a waist size adjustment feature allows the waist perimeter dimension to be adjusted to conform the waist opening to the waist of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 6248097
Abstract: An absorbent article (10) which includes a backsheet layer (30) having a pair of laterally opposed and longitudinally extending side margins (20). Each side margin has an outwardly concave, terminal side edge contour 15 located at appointed leg opening regions (17) in an intermediate portion (16) of the side margin. Each concave side edge contour (15) has a selected longitudinal extent along a length dimension (26) of the article (10). A liquid permeable topsheet layer (28) is connected in a superposed facing relation to the backsheet layer (30), and an absorbent body (32) is sandwiched between the topsheet layer (28) and the backsheet layer (30). A separately provided gusset-flap composite member (19) is connected to at least one of the backsheet and topsheet layers along each of the leg opening regions (17). The gusset-flap member (19) provides a leg gusset section (142) and a containment flap section (144), and is distinctively configured to provide improved leakage resistance, fit and comfort.

  • Patent number: 5836930
Abstract: A distinctive absorbent article comprises a substantially liquid-impermeable outer cover member having a length and a width. The outer cover provides a rear waistband portion and a front waistband portion, and has a layer of polymer film material on an outer surface of the front waistband portion of the outer cover. A liquid permeable topsheet layer is provided for contacting a wearer's skin, and an absorbent body is interposed between the outer cover and the topsheet layer. The absorbent body has a length and width which are smaller than the outer cover length and width, thereby providing end margins and side margins of the outer cover. An adhesive fastening mechanism adheres to the film layer to secure the front and rear waistband portions of the outer cover about the wearer. An elastic member is connected to provide elasticized gathers along a cross-direction of the rear waistband portion of the outer cover.
