    Abstract: A system and method is provided for capturing provenance from heterogeneous distributed communication systems. A point of coordination is monitored for messages that are input to and output from applications. Each message is identified and linked and each message is linked to the application that such message is input to or output from. Numerous sequences of such interactions can be linked together to form a provenance graph.
