  • Patent number: 5333026
Abstract: A photographic material processor which having at least two processing tanks for solutions used in the processing of photographic material, and one positive displacement pump for each processing solution for transferring concentrated processing solution and water to said processing tanks, the processor also comprising means for connecting each pump to a concentrated solution container and to a water source by a two-way valve, means for measuring the area of photographic material processed and means for activating the said pumps when a predetermined area of photographic material has been processed to perform a replenishment cycle, means for directing the liquid flow in each two-way valve so that during each replenishment cycle a predetermined volume of concentrate processing solution and a predetermined volume of water are pumped to the processing tanks by each PUMP.

  • Patent number: 4613223
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for treating with a liquid a sheet of flexible photographic material having a photographic emulsion on one face thereof are described. The sheet of photographic material is introduced into a processing vessel (2) from above the liquid in the vessel and into the liquid with the other face of the photographic material directed to the inner wall of the vessel and the emulsions surface directed to the interior of the vessel. The sheet is driven along a curved endless path within the vessel by passing the sheet through the nips between at least one pair of driven rollers (9 and 12, 13 and 14) and is guided so as substantially to follow the inside wall of the vessel (8) during its passage through the liquid, whereby the emulsion surface cannot come into contact with a stationary part of the vessel and will not therefore be damaged during the treatment in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4506986
Abstract: Liquid mixtures are prepared in first and second containers (3 and 4). The first container (3) has an outlet (6) spaced from the bottom of the container and communicating with an inlet (7) to the second container (4). A measured amount of first liquid is poured into the first container and fills the latter to the height (h.sub.1) of the outlet, the remainder flowing under gravity into the second container, whereby the first liquid is distributed between the first and second containers in proportions dependant upon the height (h.sub.1) of the outlet (6) and the basal areas of the two containers.A hollow tubular extension (15) is then fitted with one of its ends to said outlet and at the other end has mixture-preventing means (18) for receiving a flow of second liquid and defining an overflow outlet (16) spaced above the outlet (6).

  • Patent number: 4444480
Abstract: A drum processing apparatus for sheet or web material is described wherein the drum also acts as a solution recirculating means. The apparatus comprises a vessel containing processing liquid in which is partially immersed a driven drum which guides the sheet or web material through the vessel. The drum comprises within its body at least one cavity, there being at least two apertures which lead from said cavity to the outside of the drum. The cavity is so formed and the apertures are so located that, when the drum rotates, a body of liquid from the vessel enters the cavity through one aperture at a lower level in the vessel, is raised to a higher level in the vessel, and leaves the cavity at the higher level through the other aperture. Thus the liquid is circulated in the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4439033
Abstract: An apparatus for treating sheets of flexible photographic material with a liquid, comprises a vessel containing a liquid in which is partially immersed a driven drum, means to guide a sheet of flexible photographic material into the liquid so that the emulsion-free side of the sheet adheres to the surface of the drum; rotatable rollers located spacedly about the periphery of the drum help to keep the sheet of photographic material adhered to the surface of the drum. The vessel which contains the liquid is substantially cylindrical and is so shaped that it cooperates with the rollers in keeping the sheet of photographic material adhered to the surface of the drum. An exit part of the sidewall of the vessel above the level of the liquid therein is movable, for instance by being pivotably mounted. When this part is in an open position, a sheet of flexible photographic material emerging frm the liquid can peel away from the drum and enter an exit opening in the vessel and be guided out of the vessel.
