Abstract: A gap fairing for a tractor-trailer. A fairing body is attached to a chassis of the tractor, independently of the cab thereof and within a gap between a cab of the tractor and the trailer. The fairing body has side portions, extending rearwardly from a front portion, adjacent the cab of the tractor, toward the trailer and top portion. A clear panel can be located in at least the side portion of the fairing body located at the passenger side to enable the driver to view the trailer through the rear window of the tractor and the clear panel. A separation space between the front of the fairing body and the cab can be sealed by a sealing element that is at least in part one of resilient and flexible so as to allow relative motion between the fairing body and the cab.

Abstract: A gap fairing and aerodynamic drag reduction method for a tractor-trailer. The trailing end can be situated behind the side portions to lessen the inclination of the top portion. A separation space between the front of the fairing body and the cab can be sealed by a sealing element that is at least in part resilient or flexible or both so as to allow relative motion between the fairing body and the cab.

Abstract: A method of storing biological samples in which the biological samples are stored in a stack within a vessel interior of an insulated vessel. A pool of liquid cryogen is maintained within the vessel interior by condensing cryogenic vapor boiled off of the pool of liquid cryogen with a cryocooler having a cold finger. The cryocooler and cold finger are positioned so that a cold heat exchanger of the cold finger is in thermal contact with the cryogenic vapor and is positioned above the stack, so as to also maintain a temperature difference within the insulated vessel, between a bottom region of the stack and a top region of the stack, of no greater than about 65K.

Abstract: A system for providing refrigeration to a superconducting device wherein a cooling fluid is cooled by receiving refrigeration from one or more cryocoolers and then is warmed by indirect heat exchange with ballast liquid thereby providing cooling to the ballast liquid prior to providing refrigeration to the superconducting device.

Abstract: A method and system for separating one or more components from gas mixtures uses a moving bed of adsorption material particles under continuous and substantially isobaric pressure conditions. Contaminated gases are likewise purified by removing one or more contaminants therefrom using such a moving bed of adsorption material particles under continuous and substantially isobaric pressure conditions.
