  • Patent number: 7825191
Abstract: A composition and an article comprising or produced from the composition are disclosed. The composition comprises an ionomer and a reducing static charge-buildup amount of potassium ion wherein the ionomer is neutralized with sodium, zinc, or magnesium ions. The article can be a film including a multilayer film.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 2006
Date of Patent: November 2, 2010
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Barry Alan Morris, Karlheinz Hausmann, Matthew Scott Hall, John Chu Chen
  • Publication number: 20090123613
Abstract: A multilayer packaging film or sheet is disclosed. The film comprises at least one layer comprising or produced from an olefin copolymer, a composition, or combinations thereof in which the composition comprises the olefin copolymer and a polyamide, a barrier resin, a polyolefin, a vinyl ester copolymer, a carboxylate ester copolymer, or combinations of two or more thereof and the olefin copolymer is a magnesium-neutralized ionomer and comprises repeat units derived from an ?-olefin and a comonomer including one or more ?-, ?-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids. Further disclosed is a shaped article comprising or produced from the packaging film or sheet and packaged food.

  • Patent number: 7438940
Abstract: A breathable film involving at least one polymeric layer of 100% neutralized ionomer containing sufficient aliphatic, mono-functional organic acid salt to essentially triple the oxygen transmission value (OTV) and/or at least one polymeric layer of metallocene polyethylene (mPE) optional blended with low density polyethylene and preferably in combination with one or more outer layers of highly neutralized ionomer (e.g., Surlyn®). Such polymeric film and polymeric film structure has sufficient oxygen permeability, water vapor transmission, formability, and structural strength to be useful in wrapping food products requiring breathable films such as case ready meat, fish, sausage, fresh produce, and the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 16, 2003
Date of Patent: October 21, 2008
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Barry Alan Morris, Timothy A. Libert, Julius Uradnisheck
  • Patent number: 6903161
Abstract: This invention relates to a low-density polyethylene composition useful for coating polar substrates. This invention particularly relates to a low-density polyethylene composition useful for coating metal foils, wherein the composition comprises an ethylene/(meth)acrylic acid copolymer having a low acid content.
