  • Publication number: 20020130774
Abstract: A control device controls undesirable emissions from devices in an environment by transmitting signals to devices in the environment. The signals can be either control signals that require the devices in the environment to operate at a reduced functionality, or warning signals indicating an acceptable level of functionality for the devices. The levels of functionality for the devices are chosen to correspond to desired emission levels by the devices in the environment. The control device utilizes a transmitting device to transmit the signals to devices in the environment, and can include sensors to detect conditions within the environment. Another embodiment of the invention uses a control device as a relay for communication signals between devices within the environment and signal sources outside of the environment.

  • Patent number: 5305435
Abstract: A novel computer display interface which simulates familiar document handling activities based upon a unique display metaphor representative of a standard office filing system and work area of a desk. The display system includes multi-windows which are displayed in a central screen area designated for just active computer windows. The interface further includes designating the edge areas of the screen for displaying window tabs of inactive windows. The window tabs are arranged in a way to simulate an integrated filing system, and to provide a convenient method of organizing and viewing computer files.

  • Patent number: 5138304
Abstract: A technique for interaction with a projected video image with a light pen and/or target marks on the projection screen in which light reflected from the projected image is compared with the video image to detect the position of a spot positioned on the projected image by the light pen and/or the reflection of the target marks. The computer used to generate the video image is then caused to position a cursor in the video image in response to the spot position and/or otherwise modify the generated and/or projected video image.
