Publication number: 20250133369Abstract: Architectures and techniques are presented that can leverage network equipment (e.g., broadband provider equipment, cellular provider equipment) in order to provide enhanced guidance to a target location. This enhanced guidance can supplement existing mapping or navigation equipment. Such can be advantageous for public safety answering point entities and first responder entities as well as, potentially, for service technicians or delivery. When an entity (e.g., first responder) is dispatched to a particular location, an associated residential gateway (RG) or other device can be identified, and an associated SSID determined. This SSID can be provided to the entity seeking that particular location so that SSID scans can operate similar to a transponder or homing beacon. The SSID might also be configured specially for this purpose. Additionally, the state of a device attached to the RG can be altered to further aid in locating, such as blinking porch lights or audible indicia.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2024Publication date: April 24, 2025Inventors: Brian Freeman, Barry Elia, Suja John

Publication number: 20240291752Abstract: A routing structure is defined for provider edge (PE) routers that will create the ability to recompute best paths based on application criteria. The routing structure may include the use of a network controller which is connected with the internet to receive requests from applications to trigger path re-computation. The controller will peer with PEs to send re-computation information used by the PE to construct an application-aware BGP table and forwarding instance. The PE also defines a new BGP and packet filter to replicate specific BGP paths into the application-aware table. The application-aware BGP and forwarding instance is unique to the requesting application. Thus, each request with a different source/destination combination obtains a discrete table providing separation. When a packet enters the PE from customer edge (CE) or core interface the packet traverses a packet filter that when matched against source/destination is redirected to the appropriate application-aware forwarding table.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2024Publication date: August 29, 2024Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Israel Means, Barry Elia

Publication number: 20240223472Abstract: An example method for controlling customer premises equipment via the cloud or network edge to support advanced network functionality includes detecting a data flow associated with a customer premises equipment device, identifying an application associated with the data flow, monitoring a performance of the application, determining an action to be taken by the customer premises equipment device to optimize the performance of the application, and sending an instruction to the customer premises equipment device to take the action.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2022Publication date: July 4, 2024Inventors: Sridhar Narahari, Barry Elia, Jeffrey Eiber

Publication number: 20240195783Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to zero trust network access (“ZTNA”) and virtual private network (“VPN”) client offloading. According to one aspect, a user device can establish a private network session to access a private network resource in a private network. The user device can receive a request to offload the private network session from the user device to a secure router. In response to the request, the user device can offload the private network session to the secure router.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2022Publication date: June 13, 2024Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Jae-Sun Chin, Barry Elia, Sridhar Narahari, Michael Satterlee, John Gibbons

Publication number: 20240163225Abstract: In one example, the present disclosure describes a device, computer-readable medium, and method for providing estimated bandwidth ranges to network-attached entities such as applications, user endpoint devices, and customer premises equipment. For instance, in one example, a method performed by a processing system including at least one processor includes collecting performance data for a communications network from a plurality of sensors distributed throughout the communications network, calculating based on the performance data, an estimated lower limit of an available bandwidth in the communications network and an estimated upper limit of the available bandwidth in the communications network, receiving a query from a network attached entity for the available bandwidth in the communications network, and providing, in response to the query, the estimated lower limit and the estimated upper limit to the network attached entity.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2022Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Sridhar Narahari, Barry Elia, Jae-Sun Chin, Gregory Harp

Publication number: 20240089750Abstract: An architecture related to notifying user equipment of communication transportation functionality and/or facility shifts between a wired communication transportation framework and a wireless communication transportation framework. A method can comprise determining a decrease in a number of data packets flowing through a wireline network interface over a defined period of time, based on the number of data packets, determining that the wireline network interface is failing, generating a notification comprising a data record comprising a field representing a state associated with the failing wireline network interface, and sending the notification to a user equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Jae-Sun Chin, Jamil Cheikhali, Barry Elia, Gregory Harp, Sridhar Narahari, Raghu Mudumbai
