Abstract: A method for determining a route warranty for one or more vehicle systems includes determining plural different paths for a trip of a first vehicle system from an origin location to a destination location in a transportation network formed from paths interconnected with each other at nodes, determining whether travel by the first vehicle system along the different routes fails one or more tests that restrict how the first vehicle system travels in the transportation network, and determining a route warranty for the first vehicle system based on the one or more tests. The route warranty reserves one or more of the paths for travel by the first vehicle system from the origin location to the destination location such that other vehicle systems are prevented from traveling on the one or more of the paths reserved by the route warranty.

A user is allocated a security grading relating to how secure their computer system (2) is, for instance in terms of anti-virus software, firewalls and up-to-date security patches. Methods and apparatus (10, 12) for providing a security grading of a user's computer system are also disclosed. Users without a security grading or with low level security grading may then be accorded only basic access to the data or functionality of another computer system (8), for instance such as on-line banking services or the like. This ensures therefore that those users that take responsibility for their own security are allowed full access without undue security protocols whereas users without proper security do not have so much access.

Abstract: Two channels of output of sequences of digital still images are input to a DVE system which has pipelined memory circuits rather than frame buffers. The DVE system includes a DVE unit which performs arbitrary three-dimensional, digital video effects on the two channels of input to provide a composite output sequence. The DVE system thus operates on sequences of digital still images rather than video signals. The DVE system is also adapted to prevent output upon receipt of a control signal, which may indicate that an output pipeline is full. The DVE system also provides a control signal to prevent input when it cannot receive input or it is not providing output.
