    Abstract: A gutter-clearing tool having a scoop-plate and a top-plate where the front end of the top-plate is pivotally attached to the top end of the scoop-plate, and the top plate is attached to a rod. A pivot joint allows the scoop-plate to close upwardly toward the top plate when the apparatus is pushed through the gutter thereby providing a substantially reduced vertical profile, and allows the scoop-plate to open downwardly away from the top plate when the apparatus is pulled through the gutter thereby collecting debris and clearing the gutter.

    Abstract: An intramedullary nail for treating long bone fractures. The nail includes a proximal portion that may have a plurality of segments. The segments may be rotatable 360 degrees about a longitudinal axis of the nail such that the position of bone screw openings in the segments can be adjusted to a desired orientation. Locking rings or other locking mechanisms may be provided between the segments to lock the segments in place and allow the segments to be unlocked for readjustment of the position of the segments. The bone screw openings may be configured to allow further angular adjustment of the bone screws with respect to the longitudinal axis of the nail. Inserts may be placed within the bone screw openings to support the bone screws in position.

The proximal body defines at least a majority of a frustoconical shape. The ledge formed by the collar includes a tapered undersurface, beneath which extends the proximal body. The tapered undersurface of the ledge and the proximal body extend in different directions and thereby cooperatively define a double-flared contact surface configured to enable subsidable engagement of said double-flared contact surface with the femur at two different rates of subsidence within the femur. An abrupt, male corner is formed by the stem and the proximal body and is sufficiently abrupt to provide enhanced bone ingrowth stimulation.
