Abstract: A coated composition for feeding a ruminant may include: (A) a core of a biologically active ingredient selected from (A-i) amino acids, N-acylamino acids, N-guanylamino acids, and/or salts thereof and/or 2-hydroxy-4-(methyl)butyric acid calcium salt; (A-ii) proteins; (A-iii) peptides; (A-iv) carbohydrates; (A-v) vitamins, vitamin A (acetate or palmitate), B, D2, D3, E, thiamine (HCl), riboflavin, nicotinic acid (amide), calcium pantothenate, choline pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, choline chloride, cyano-cobalamin, biotin, folic acid, and p-aminobenzoic acid; (A-vi) probiotic microorganisms; (A-vii) prebiotic foods; (A-viii) choline and salts thereof; (A-ix) polyunsaturated fatty acids, and salts thereof; and x) any combination of (A-i) to (A-ix); and (B) a coating, encapsulating the core, constituting 1 to 15% of total coated composition weight and including 85 to 95% wt./wt. of a film-forming agent, which is triethyl citrate, and 5 to 15% wt./wt.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for the demolition of vertical concrete structures. A moveable concrete cutting vehicle includes a carriage adapted to move along the top surface of the vertical concrete structure that is to be demolished. The carriage carries a cutting assembly that is moveable in at least two directions, such as a vertical direction and a slightly downwardly angled circumferential direction, which cutting assembly is positioned to make cuts through the entire width of the concrete wall of the vertical concrete structure. After a series of cuts have been performed, the carriage may be moved along the top, horizontal rim of the vertical concrete structure, and separable concrete blocks that have been formed in the previously processed region may be tipped off of the remaining vertical concrete structure to fall to the ground.

Abstract: A process for preparing solid formulations of sodium 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyrate of the formula in which, in a first process step, 4,4-dimethyloxetan-2-one is reacted with aqueous sodium hydroxide to form a solution of sodium 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyrate, and then, if appropriate after concentration, the solution is applied, in a further process step, to synthetic silica, and in which the resultant product is, if appropriate, dried.

The cover has at least one aperture, with the first gripping device capable of extending through the at least one aperture. With the folding cylinder of the invention gaps between the tucking and gripping spiders can be eliminated.

Abstract: A filament-wound tank portion of an electric water heater has a wall opening through which an electric heating element of other structure extends into the interior of the tank. The opening is reinforced by a stacked series of single layer, open weave patch members which are interdigitated with layers of the filament winding and through which the opening extends. The filament winding and the patches are impregnated with and intersecured by a cured resin material. As an alternative to cutting portions of the patches during formation of the tank wall opening, the patches may be provided with suitable pre-formed openings with reinforced peripheries, the subsequently formed tank wall opening extending through these reinforced, pre-formed patch openings. The single layer, open weave patches are also utilized to reinforce other types of filament-based tank wall structures.

Abstract: Solid formulations of sodium 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyrate are produced by the hydrolysis of 4,4-dimethyl-2-oxetanone with aqueous sodium hydroxide to give a solution of sodium 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyrate and the solution obtained thus is absorbed onto synthetic silicic acid. Said formulations are lightly hygroscopic and easily handled.

Abstract: Bisketals of 1,3-cyclobutanedione with monovalent and divalent alcohols as well as processes for their production from 1,3-cyclobutanedione or from 3-acetoxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one contained in the distillation residues of the diketene production. The bisketals are suitable intermediate products for the production of squaric acid, for the production and/or purification of 1,3-cyclobutanedione, or as a stable form for storage or substitute for this unstable dione.

Abstract: A process for the production of squaric acid by halogenation either of pure 3-acetoxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one or of a distillation residue of diketene production containing 3-acetoxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one to a cyclobutenone of formula: ##STR1## and then hydrolysis of these cyclobutenones to squaric acid. The halogenated cyclobutenones are intermediate products in the process.

Abstract: 3-Hydroxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one salts of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an ammonium group of the general formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different in meaning and each is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group or R is an alkali metal atom. The salts according for formula I are obtained by the reaction of pure 3-acetoxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one, or 1,3-cyclobutanedione or a distillation residue of the diketene production containing 3-acetoxy-2-cyclobuten-1-one, with a base. The base can be an amine of the general formula: ##STR3## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 have the above-mentioned meaning, or an alkali metal alcoholate or an alkali metal hydroxide. The salts according to formula I are suitable for the production of squaric acid, by their being halogenated in a first step and then being hydrolyzed to squaric acid in a second step.
