    Abstract: This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a metal part which comprises attaching a powder forged or wrought outer raced ID splined plate to a powdered metal inner splined connection gear, wherein the outer raced ID splined plate incorporates a female ID profile on the race, wherein the inner splined connection gear contains a mail OD profile on the exterior of the part, and wherein the splined plate and the splined connection gear are attached together by (1) sinter brazing, (2) laser brazing, (3) laser welding, (4) sintering a mechanical joint, or (5) staking. In practicing this method a tight mechanical joint is formed between the splined plate and the splined connection gear which can be made of highly dissimilar materials, such as a wrought metal and a sintered powder metal.

    Abstract: A subject (10) is disposed adjacent a detector array (18). The subject (10) is injected with a radioactive isotope (14) and &ggr;-ray emissions indicative of nuclear decay are detected at the detector array (18). The detector array generates electrical signals in response to each &ggr;-ray which signals are processed (64) and reconstructed (46) into an image representation of the anatomy of the subject (10). A high voltage bias is applied across the detector array. The bias is applied by a set of bias strips (80) and an electrically isolated common busbar (82) built onto a sheet of flexible circuit material. This flexible circuit (81) is highly transmissive to gamma radiation in the energy range 60-180 keV which is typically used in diagnostic nuclear medicine. Connections between the common busbar (82) and the bias strips (80) are made by resistors (92) on individual detector cards.

    Abstract: In an internal combustion engine, a shaft driving apparatus and timing assembly in the form of a camshaft sprocket having first and second ends extending perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The first end for defining an annular timing surface positioned adjacent an angular position sensor and including a first arcuate surface region extending outwardly in the axial direction from the sprocket's first end and a second surface arcuate region recessed in the axial direction with respect to the first arcuate surface region. As the camshaft rotates, the closeness of the position sensor to the first arcuate surface region and the relative greater distance of the sensor to the second arcuate surface region produces different effects so that the sensor can detect the camshaft's angular position.
