Publication number: 20240112462Abstract: A system for predicting vegetation encroachment into a utility asset that includes a remote sensing controller that stores a set of 3D data characterizing a utility asset and vegetation in a digital twin database. The digital twin database stores 3D data characterizing the utility asset and vegetation over time. The system further includes a biomass engine that classifies instances of vegetation characterized by the set 3D data stored in the digital twin database as a particular type of vegetation. The biomass engine further generates a growth curve for each instance of vegetation based on the set of 3D data stored in the digital twin database and the particular type of vegetation. Additionally, the biomass engine predicts future growth for each instance of vegetation based on the growth curve and determines if and when each instance of vegetation will exceed an encroachment threshold associated with the utility asset.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2022Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: Iliana M. Rentz, Steve T. Jolly, Barry Lynn Grubb, Isaac Bentolila

Publication number: 20220305409Abstract: A method for removing solids submerged in a polymer-based slurry. The present invention filters used polymer-based slurries, containing solids, to return the slurry to a condition that is favorable to the owner. The method utilizes a first collection tank, an agitator, a shaker with a plurality of screens, a desander, a desilter, a centrifuge that removes solids down to a size range of 5-7 microns, and a second collection tank. Each component can be used in tandem depending on the polymer-based slurry characteristics that are required by the owner. The preferred embodiment includes the following steps: obtaining used polymer-based slurry, pumping the slurry into a first collection tank where the slurry undergoes agitation, pumping the slurry through a plurality of screens, pumping the slurry into a desander and/or a desilter, passing the slurry through a screen, and pumping the slurry in centrifuge that removes solids down to a size range of 5-7 microns.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2022Publication date: September 29, 2022Applicant: Clean Slurry TechnologyInventor: Barry Lynn Sorteberg

Publication number: 20180163992Abstract: A plumbing adapter is proposed to allow electric heating elements to be placed into the ports of an existing pressurized hot water tank. The adapter allows the heating element to be inserted into either male or female tank plumbing fittings without rotation, so it allows the use of bent or shaped heating elements. This allows a heating element to be placed near the bottom of the tank and in an inclined or near-horizontal position to improve convective heat transfer. The adapter allows electric heating elements driven by photovoltaic panels or grid power to be placed into existing or new water tanks that are heated by propane, natural gas, or electric power.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2016Publication date: June 14, 2018Inventors: Barry Lynn Butler, Roger Lee Davenport, Brett Louis Butler
