  • Patent number: 8680785
Abstract: A variable master current mirror circuit may be used to balance the currents through parallel Light Emitting Diode (LED) strings in an illumination module when the LED string with the largest forward voltage changes due to events, such as a short failure of an LED. The variable master current mirror circuit includes a switching circuit that is coupled to the parallel LED strings and a current mirror circuit that is coupled to the parallel LED strings and the switching circuit. The switching circuit switchably connects the LED string with the largest forward voltage to the current mirror circuit as a master LED string. The current mirror circuit maintains equal currents through the LED strings with reference to the current through the master LED string.

  • Publication number: 20140067749
Abstract: Methods of calling genomic sequence values in complex calling regions are disclosed. Following a preliminary sequence alignment a complex calling region may be identified where no sequence values satisfy preliminary alignment criteria. Potential hypotheses may be formulated for the complex calling region and the probability of each hypothesis representing a correct alignment may be calculated by evaluating the probability of each hypothesis being correct for the reads and the probability of each hypothesis occurring. The hypothesis best satisfying hypothesis selection criteria may be selected. The method may include an evaluation of possible indels in the complex calling region.

  • Patent number: 8311190
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for verifying incoming telephone calls to a telephone services subscriber. An incoming telephone call from a caller is received. A time variable including one or more of a current date, a day-of-week, and a time-of-day is determined. One or more challenge questions is selected from a pre-defined schedule, in response to determining the time variable. The schedule includes challenge questions for different time variables. The caller is subjected to the one or more challenge questions. At least one challenge response to one or more of the selected challenge questions is received. It is determined whether the at least one challenge response was an expected correct response. If the at least one challenge response was correct, an action is taken with respect to the incoming telephone call.

  • Patent number: 8204624
Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for the automated retrieval/delivery of goods from one location to another using a robotic device such as a tug and accompanying cart. A computer within the tug/cart stores a map of the building floor plan and intended paths for the tug to take when traversing from one location to the next. During the delivery, a variety of different sensors and scanners gather data that is used to avoid obstacles and/or continuously adjust the movement of the tug in order to more closely follow the intended path. The system preferably includes wireless networks that allow one or more tugs to communicate with a tug base station, a primary network located at the site of the delivery and a remote host center that monitors the status and data collected by the tugs.
