  • Patent number: 7492841
Abstract: A base station signal is applied to antenna elements. One signal from a first element is electrically modified and evaluated in conjunction with a second, unmodified signal from a second element. The modified signal is further modified and again evaluated with the unmodified signal. The results of the two evaluations are compared to determine a relative phase and/or amplitude at the respective elements.

  • Publication number: 20090024593
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for a query predicate generator to construct a database query predicate from received query conditions. A plurality of query conditions are received, wherein each query condition includes a comparison operator and a comparison value for a database attribute, and wherein the comparison operator is capable of comprising matching and non-matching operators. The query conditions are processed to determine at least one logical operator to include between the query conditions. A database query predicate is generated to use in a database query to apply against the database comprising the received query conditions chained using the determined logical operators.

  • Patent number: 7468478
Abstract: A thin flat body of clear plastic with a key pad (20) on the inside back base (12), and a chord scale (22) on the outside front of the base (10). The chord scale is fitted with braille nodules (24) for guiding the proper placement of the fingers on the EZ chord. On the bottom or lower side of the base (10) (12) is a gripping angle (14) for the learning chord device. On the top or upper side, and bottom or lower side of the base (10) (12) are gripping angles (14) (16) for the universal chord device. One EZ chord is a device that when manipulated by a human hand, or an artificial hand, is pressed and positioned onto the guitar neck, fret and strings to form and sound guitar chords and/or notes. The EZ chord devices can be used by mentally, physically, or visually handicapped people as well as non-handicapped people, to play and/or learn to play the guitar.

  • Publication number: 20080276983
Abstract: This invention relates to a photovoltaic cell module and a process of applying a silicone based hot melt encapsulant material (102a, 104a) onto photovoltaic cells (103a) to form a photovoltaic cell module. There is provided a photovoltaic array with more efficient manufacturing and better utilization of the solar spectrum by using silicone hot melt sheets (102a, 104a) to give a silicone encapsulant photovoltaic device with the process ease of an organic encapsulant but the optical and chemical advantages of a silicone encapsulant. There is further provided a method for fabricating photovoltaic cells with increased throughput and optical efficiency when compared to prior art encapsulation methods. The preferred silicone material is provided in flexible sheet with hot melt properties and low surface tack.

  • Patent number: 7266606
Abstract: Cascaded policing methods and systems are provided which allow lower priority traffic to benefit from otherwise unused capacity allocated to higher priority traffic of a given customer/service with multiple classes of service. The method involves policing packets of a first class in accordance with at least one policing parameter associated with the first class, and policing packets of a second class in accordance with at least one policing parameter associated with the second class in a manner which gives to the second class at least a portion of a traffic throughput afforded to the first class by at least one of said at least one policing parameter, such as a rate guarantee or burst tolerance, associated with the first class of traffic which is not being used by the packets of the first class. The method is easily adapted to an arbitrary number of different traffic classes.

  • Patent number: 6719123
Abstract: An apparatus and method for advancing and/or slowing signatures in a printing press. The apparatus and method includes a series of two or more belt drives, where each belt drive includes at least a pair of opposed belts. The belts are preferably timing or toothed belts driven by sprockets. The sprockets are formed with a semi-elliptical outer surface. As a result, the belts have two directions of motion. The first direction—horizontal—advances the signatures and may be used to slow the signatures. The second direction—vertical—withdraws the belts away from contact with the signatures to prevent buckling or wrinkling during a speed transition or during a transfer between belts. In one embodiment of the present invention, both opposed belts are retracting belts; in another embodiment, one belt is a fixed conveyor belt, while the other opposed belt is a retracting belt.
