  • Publication number: 20020143381
Abstract: An intraluminal prosthesis composed of a self-expandable stent and a biodegradable constraining element being capable of biodegrading in vivo over a predetermined period of time to permit radial expansion of the stent. The constraining elements are applied to the stent to produce a compressed configuration. Dissolution of the constraining elements in vivo allows for expansion of the stent to an expanded configuration.

  • Patent number: 6298121
Abstract: An enhanced micro-controller having multiple operating modes is provided to an otherwise conventional data circuit terminating equipment (DCE). The enhanced micro-controller, responsive to local events as well as local and remote commands, controls the operation of the DCE in one of at least four modes, an idle mode, an analog voice mode, a digital data mode, and a simultaneous voice and data (SVD) mode. As a result of the improved manner in which the micro-controller operates the DCE, users employing the improved DCE may perform voice and data communication using only a single analog-loop telephone line and in a much more user friendly manner.

  • Patent number: 6211579
Abstract: A compensation circuit for a DC—DC converter having a low voltage output line and a plurality of high voltage output lines applied to a plurality of loads includes an adjustable impedance source connected to the low voltage output line. The impedance source generates a feedback control signal to the DC—DC converter used to control the transformer duty cycle. A sensing circuit is connected to the plurality of high voltage output lines for generating a control signal which represents variations in the output voltages of the high voltage output lines. The control signal is applied to the impedance source to thereby regulate the feedback control signal which in turn provides regulation for the high voltage output lines.

  • Patent number: 6101111
Abstract: In a flyback converter receiving a high voltage DC input for generating a low voltage output, a power control circuit includes a peak current mode controller having as an input, the flyback converter output. The controller generates a feedback signal to the flyback converter for controlling the switching frequency of switches present in the flyback converter. The peak current controller includes a clock circuit. Circuitry monitors the high voltage DC input. The monitoring circuit generates a control signal which is applied to the controller clock circuit for controlling the switching frequency of the flyback converter to thereby control output power levels.

  • Patent number: 6098073
Abstract: A software tool generates computer program code in a message based environment. The programmer interacts with the tools making a number of selections to define the user interface of the computer program. When this is complete the tool analyses the user interface definition and produces a list of all the messages that could be produced by that user interface. On the same display a list of blocks of code from a code library is shown. The programmer selects a message and a block of code to be invoked by that message. If the block of code has any prerequisite requirements, the programmer is prompted to meet them. A message identifier, a pointer to the code block, and any prerequisite data is then stored in a linked list structure. When the connection process has finished, the code for producing the defined user interface is generated and the list of connections is traversed, resulting in output the blocks of code from the library in the correct place for their corresponding messages.

  • Patent number: 6052934
Abstract: A lockable safety device that may be installed on handguns, rifles or other firearms having a clip or magazine and an exposed breech area. The safety device comprises an elongated body with a transverse member at one end, and a series of spaced openings along the length of the body, ending before the second end. The openings receive the shank of a padlock. With the slide of the gun retracted to open the ejection port, the safety device is installed by inserting the second end of the body into the ejection port and continually advancing the body through the magazine well until the transverse member engages the upper surface of the slide.

  • Patent number: 5878120
Abstract: A micro-controller having multiple operating modes, including an idle mode, an analog voice mode, a digital data mode, and a simultaneous voice and data (SVD) mode, is provided to a DCE designed to support multi-modal voice and/or data calls over a single analog-loop telephone line. The micro-controller further contains control logic for establishing multiple logical connections and voice as well as data transmission protocols over these logical connections with another DCE, when switching from the analog voice mode to the SVD mode, and for multiplexing voice and data transmissions over these logical connections. The control logic transmits voice over a logical voice connection in nominally fixed intervals. A non-voice transmission, i.e. data or information to be exchanged, can be suspended in favor of transmitting a voice transmission. During the suspension, a special character (e.g., escape) is transmitted in conjunction with a length preceding the voice transmission.

  • Patent number: 5818913
Abstract: An otherwise conventional DTE and an otherwise conventional DCE are provided with operating logic for multiplexing voice and data on a single DTE-DCE link linking the DTE and the DCE. The operating logic of the DTE/DCE transmits voice over the link for the DCE/DTE at nominally fixed intervals without flow control and buffering, and non-voice data in the remaining time with flow control and buffering. Voice are distinguished from data by transmitting predetermined special characters, or changing handshake circuit state, or using secondary circuit for transmission.

  • Patent number: 5519219
Abstract: There is described within a portable, battery-powered multiple filter infrared spectrometer consisting of a highly efficient optical system employing an infrared source with a chopper, from which IR energy passes through compound parabolic concentrators (CPC's) and is directed by a beamsplitter to the external sample, where the beam intersects with the sample via reflection and is returned through the CPC and beamsplitter to a stationary filter assembly and discrete detector array where the energy is converted to an A.C. (alternating current) signal. This current energizes an LED bar graph display for spectral identification. This method and apparatus is used to determine IR spectra of solids, liquids on a mirror, and gases in a container with a mirror to reflect light.

  • Patent number: 5437040
Abstract: A digital electronics system, such as a computer, includes circuits which provides signals proportional to the instantaneous voltage and current on the power bus to a microprocessor. The microprocessor uses these signals, the capacitance of the system filter capacitors, and the desired time for the system voltage to remain above a minimum voltage, to calculate an instantaneous voltage threshold. When the power bus voltage falls below this threshold voltage, the microprocessor provides a signal warning of impending power failure. The product of the voltage and current, i.e. the instantaneous system power, is displayed on an alphanumeric LED on the front panel of the computer.

  • Patent number: 5380435
Abstract: A cytocentrifugation device, rotor, and apparatus are improved by providing the device with a plurality of liquid-receiving chambers arranged serially along and opening into an elongate conduit leading to and terminating within a filter-pad-holder so that a filter-pad-prewetting liquid can be passed along such conduit and into a liquid-flow opening of a filter pad held by such holder in advance of passage along said conduit and through such liquid-flow opening in the filter pad of a cell-carrying liquid sample during a centrifugation run of the apparatus. Retention of prewetting liquid in the filter pad around the sample liquid flow helps to prevent loss of cells to the filter pad. Various other structural modifications of the cytocentrifugation device and filter pads used therewith also help to prevent loss of cells to the filter pad.
