  • Publication number: 20130262222
Abstract: Devices and methods provide route guidance by maintaining a plurality of user preferences, receiving a beginning location and an ending location of a trip, and receiving a trip purpose of the trip. Such devices and methods automatically generate multiple different routes between the beginning location and the ending location, automatically create a subset of less than all of the user preferences that match the trip purpose to produce purpose-specific preferences, and automatically rank the multiple different routes by ranking routes that match more of the purpose-specific preferences ahead of routes that match less of the purpose-specific preferences to produce a ranked order. Then, such devices and methods automatically output the multiple different routes in the ranked order.

  • Publication number: 20130191190
Abstract: A method and system for motivating and optimizing usage of a toll lane by displaying a time based cost metric on an electronic display. The real time electronic display can be configured on the toll lane for displaying information with respect to the toll lane to, for example, a driver on a highway. An average speed of vehicles in the toll lane and/or a non-toll lane of the highway over at least one span can be measured and the average speed can be displayed on the electronic display. A toll rate with respect to the usage of the toll lane can be determined and displayed. A time saving value and a cost per unit time with respect to the usage of the toll lane over the span can be calculated and displayed on the electronic display.

  • Patent number: 8376498
Abstract: A method of operating a printer produces duplex images with improved throughput. The method monitors the position of an area of pressure roller that carries release agent and synchronizes a media transport to insert a media sheet into a nip formed with the pressure roller so the release agent on the pressure roller exits the nip as the leading edge of the media sheet enters the nip. The circumference of the pressure roller is an integral number times the length of the media sheet plus inter-document gap.

  • Publication number: 20120262513
Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, a system, a printmaking device, and a method for pre-curling and registering media are provided herein. The system includes a media curler system and a deskew mechanism. The media curler system pre-curls at least one of lead edge and a trail edge of a sheet before delivery to a media hold-down transport. The deskew mechanism is coupled to the media curler system for pivoting the media curler system about a pivot axis to deskew the sheet. The pivot axis extends perpendicular to the media transport path. In operation, as the lead edge enters the pre-curling and registration system, the media curler system pre-curls the sheet towards the media hold-down transport. As the sheet is being pre-curled, the deskew mechanism pivots the media curler system about the pivot axis to correct any skew errors in the sheet.

  • Publication number: 20120207518
Abstract: Embodiments described herein include a multi-color printing system in which color-to-color registration errors due to cyclical belt motion errors are minimized. A belt for transporting a substrate media or at least a partial image into a plurality of panels is segmented. A first one of the panels has a first location on the belt for receiving substrate media or a partial image. A first belt motion error value corresponding to the first one of the panels on the belt is identified and at least one image marking unit is calibrated to counteract the first belt motion error corresponding to the first one of the panels.
