  • Publication number: 20130253957
Abstract: A method and system are provided for determining whether to issue insurance coverage for one or more specific events, such as a specific surgical event or diagnostic procedure. The method and system include consideration of a variety of risk criteria associated with the event or procedure, as well as policy coverage components. Preferably, old and new risk data is utilized to determine posterior possibilities for events associated with the event or procedure. Risk data is utilized to determine whether to issue policies, and to determined policy coverage where policies are to be issued, so as to minimize premiums to the insured and maximize profits to the company.

  • Publication number: 20030036770
Abstract: A device and method for inserting a tissue anchor implant is disclosed. The tissue anchor implant includes a planar portion, a screw extending at least in part from the planar portion, and at least one prong extending longitudinally from the planar portion. The prong is adapted to grasp and hold tissue when said screw is screwed into bone. The implant is inserted into a cavity in the tissue, and rotated to screw the implant into bone.

  • Patent number: 6270511
Abstract: A system for use in implanting hair grafts in tissue and for preventing the corruption of implanted hair grafts during the implantation of further hair grafts is provided. The system includes a hair graft implanter and a template. The template has a body with an upper and lower surface and a plurality of openings therethrough each adapted to pass a transplantation catheter for implantation of a graft into the tissue. Projections or flat areas are provided on the bottom surface of the body to rest upon and cover previously transplanted grafts to hold them in position, support the tissue and thereby resist corruption thereof by the implanter's subsequent incising, dilation and transplantations of grafts through the template.

  • Patent number: 6110189
Abstract: A device and method for implanting hair grafts into a patient's scalp is disclosed. The device includes guides, each having an internal passage, which extend downwardly from a base. Spikes extend downwardly from a depressor which is movable with respect to the guides and base. The spikes are movable within a corresponding guide passage to a position where each spike and guide cooperate to dilate a cavity in the scalp. In addition, each spike is movable to engage a hair graft and push the hair graft through the guide into the cavity in the scalp.

  • Patent number: 6056736
Abstract: A device and method are provided for loading harvested hair grafts into a cartridge which includes a fixture to hold the cartridge receiving the grafts. A vacuum source imposes a differential pressure across the cartridge to urge grafts into the openings of the cartridge. A blocking template has at least one provided to register the openings to prevent the grafts received from exiting the openings due to the differential pressure.

  • Patent number: 5951572
Abstract: A device and method are set forth for performing hair grafts which includes a housing, plunger with a needle, and a carriage containing an inventory of hair grafts to be placed. The plunger is placed at an extended position where the needle extends from the catheter and the needle and catheter are inserted into the tissue. The plunger and needle are withdrawn and the carriage is indexed to position a graft. The plunger is moved to urge the graft from the carriage through the catheter into the tissue for transplantation.

  • Patent number: 5868758
Abstract: A method, device and kit for preforming multiple hair transplant grafts disclosed. The device includes a plurality of cutters adapted to make a pattern of incisions in the tissue to receive the grafts. A dilator device preferably comprises interengaging plates. A first plate includes a number of downwardly extending spikes for extension through a number of downwardly extending hollow catheters of a second plate. The first and second plates are pressed together with the interengaging spikes and catheters to define dilators of a pattern corresponding to the pattern of incisions. The dilators are inserted into the incisions and the first plate is removed, leaving the hollow catheters of the second plate in the tissue. A third plate filled with hair grafts is sleeved into or aligned with the catheters of the first plate. The hair grafts are pressed downward through the third plate, through the first plate catheters, into the tissue. The kit includes the incision device and dilator device.
