  • Patent number: 5877140
Abstract: The present invention relates to anionic compounds and their application in detergent compositions. The compounds have the dual benefits of surfactancy and suds suppression.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 20, 1997
Date of Patent: March 2, 1999
Inventors: Frederick Edward Hardy, Barry Thomas Ingram, Christian Leo Marie Vermote
  • Patent number: 5854196
Abstract: The present invention relates to detergent compositions comprising an anionic surfactant system. The anionic surfactant system comprises alkyl alkoxylated sulphate having specific ratios of mono-, di- and trialkoxylated sulphate. The anionic surfactant system provides improved oily and greasy soil removal over a wide temperature range.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 1997
Date of Patent: December 29, 1998
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Gerard Marcel Baillely, Barry Thomas Ingram, Christian Leo Marie Vermote
  • Patent number: 5738186
Abstract: An extensible ladder includes a plurality of sections, each having a pair of tubular uprights connected by a rung, with the uprights of each section being slidably engaged with the corresponding uprights of an adjacent section. The inside surface of the tubular uprights are provided with longitudinally extending grooves, which reduce the area of sliding contact between adjacent uprights, thereby making the ladder easier to extend or collapse.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 1996
Date of Patent: April 14, 1998
    Assignee: Foxdale Developments Limited
    Inventor: Ronald Barry Thomas Jones
  • Patent number: 5560474
Abstract: The apparatus includes contact blades at different elevations on a utility pole rotatable between electrical connection and disconnection positions vis-a-vis contact members. To rotate the contact blades, an electromechanical linear actuator extends a clevis and crank arm to rotate a vertically extending shaft coupled to another crank and a lever arm to rotate the insulators on which the contact blades are mounted. The linear actuators are carried by support structure high on the utility pole and, by rotating the vertical shafts, the insulators and contact blades at each phase are simultaneously rotated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 15, 1994
Date of Patent: October 1, 1996
    Assignee: Southern Electrical Equipment Company

  • Patent number: 4777354
Abstract: System for controlling the supply of utility services, such as electricity, gas, water, and oil, and other services, such as telephone, cable television, and the like to a consumer. The system includes one or more service supply control units for controlling the supply of the service to a consumer location over a predetermined time period. A timing device is connected to the supply control unit for setting the time period over which the supply control units supply the service to the consumer. A deactuating device is connected to the supply control units for effecting termination of the supply of the service upon expiry of the predetermined time period. An actuator card is provided for actuating the supply control units.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 27, 1986
Date of Patent: October 11, 1988

  • Patent number: 4036178
Abstract: An electronic lock and key system is provided for controlling access. A passive key provides selective access without having a self contained power source. In a passive transponder arrangement, a passive electronic key processes induced or radiated electronic signals to generate a transponder signal for controlling access.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 2, 1975
