Publication number: 20240278277Abstract: This disclosure presents several options for spraying paint on large elevated surfaces. In a first example, a lift is equipped with sensors to move a painter along the wall in a serpentine pattern while maintaining a constant separation distance and orientation to facilitate spraying of the wall. In a second example, a spray stamp frame is positioned on the wall in a plurality of different positions to spray discrete portions of the wall by a slide bar that moves along the spray stamp frame at each position. In a third example, one or more cables are strung between vertical supports along the wall and a spray module is moved along or by the cables to spray the horizontal stripe, and this process is repeated to spray a plurality of horizontal stripes at different elevations to spray the wall.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2024Publication date: August 22, 2024Inventors: Robert W. Kinne, James C. Schroeder, William M. Blenkush, Barry W. Mattson

Publication number: 20230009566Abstract: An automated mobile sprayer (AMS) (12) is configured to apply stripes of fluid to target surfaces to coat those target surfaces with the fluid. A control module (24) of the AMS (12) controls movement and spraying by the AMS. The control module (24) causes the AMS (12) to follow a target surface based on distance data from distance sensors configured to detect the target surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2020Publication date: January 12, 2023Inventors: Charles W. Dawson, Barry W. Mattson, Nicholas H. Reath, Dale C. Pemberton, John P. Saunders, Andrew V. Lindenfelser

Publication number: 20220008944Abstract: A ground sprayer includes a front portion and a rear portion. A marking fluid is stored in a fluid reservoir removably mounted in the front portion. A pump disposed in the front portion draws the marking fluid from the fluid reservoir through a manifold, and the pump drives the marking fluid out of a nozzle. An actuator is disposed in the rear portion and can activate the pump based on a command from the user. The rear portion includes a handle such that the user can fully support and operate the ground sprayer with a single hand.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2021Publication date: January 13, 2022Inventors: Barry W. Mattson, James C. Schroeder

Patent number: 10705554Abstract: A portable hydraulic power unit includes a fluid tank supported on a frame, a first pump configured to draw hydraulic fluid from the tank and a second pump configured to draw hydraulic fluid from the tank. The portable hydraulic power unit further includes a two-way valve disposed on a high-flow line extending from an output of the second pump, the two-way valve movable between an open state and a closed state. The two-way valve is electrically-actuated and configured to shift to the open state based on a hydraulic fluid pressure in a combined flow line downstream of the first pump and the second pump exceeding a threshold pressure level. The two-way valve directs the output of the second pump back to the fluid tank when the two-way valve is in the open state.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2018Date of Patent: July 7, 2020Assignee: Graco Minnesota Inc.Inventors: Charles W.
