The frusto-pyramidal shape of the housing contributes to the robustness of the radar apparatus and allows the apparatus to have a low radar cross section.

The pulses are encoded differently with the short pulse A being a continuous wave signal and the longer pulses being modulated with a frequency modulated chirp, one pulse C being chirp up and the other B being chirp down. The power of the radar need only be about 190 w.
