Patent number: 12704436Abstract: A baler including an accelerometer coupled to the frame and configured to output a bulk signal representative of the total vibrational power in the frame, and a controller in operable communication with the accelerometer, where the controller is configured to deconstruct the bulk output signal provided by the accelerometer into at least a first component signal and a second component signal, and where the controller is configured to associate one of the first component signal and the second component signal with a first bearing and the other of the first component signal and the second component signal with a second bearing.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2023Date of Patent: August 11, 2026Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Nolan D. Eakins, Bart A. Coffman

Publication number: 20260165256Abstract: A baler implement includes a bale formation system defining a baling chamber configured for forming crop material into a bale having a cylindrical shape, and a roller configured to apply a compressive force against the crop to form the bale. A bale size sensor is operable to sense data related to a diametric size of the bale within the baling chamber. A baler controller determines a current diameter of the bale during formation thereof within the baling chamber, and determines if the current diameter of the bale is equal to a pressure release diameter threshold. When the current diameter of the bale is equal to the pressure release diameter threshold, the baler controller may automatically control the bale formation system to decrease the compressive force of the roller applied against the bale to prevent overloading and damaging bearings of the roller.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2024Publication date: June 18, 2026Inventors: Nolan D. Eakins, Bart A. Coffman, Daniel E. Derscheid, Jacob W. Everhart

Publication number: 20260033434Abstract: A baler has a dispensing arm movably mounted to a frame and configured to dispense twine to wrap a bale of crops. The bale has a first end, a second end, a center, and a rotation axis extending along a longitudinal axis of the bale. The twine arm is moveable between a stowed position, a first position near the first end of the bale, and a second position near the second end of the bale. A controller is operatively coupled to the dispensing arm to control movement of the dispensing arm between the first end, a first and second catch position, and the second end. The controller is programmed to move the dispensing arm with a fast stroke at portions of the bale and a slower apply stroke a different portions of the bale to wrap the bale with twine having consistent spacing along the longitudinal axis of the bale.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2024Publication date: February 5, 2026Applicant: Deere & CompanyInventors: Hrishikesh Y. RASTE, Bart A. COFFMAN, Ajit Kumar BHUNYA

Patent number: 12477995Abstract: A method of monitoring a status of a supply of wrap material of a baler implement includes receiving a supply roll length input when a new supply roll of wrap material is loaded into a wrap system of the baler implement. A respective length of the wrap material used to wrap each bale since receiving the supply roll length input is determined and summed together to define a total current used wrap value. The total current used wrap value is subtracted from the total longitudinal length to define a current remaining length of the wrap material. A notification signal is communicated to a communicator to indicate to an operator the current remaining length of the wrap material on the supply roll of the wrap material.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2022Date of Patent: November 25, 2025Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Daniel E. Derscheid, Bart A. Coffman, Eric M. Thies
