Abstract: Method for processing brushes, whereby the brush fibres (2) of these brushes (1) are divided in clearly separated fields and are subsequently treated separately per field. The brush fibres (2) are divided in separate fields by subsequently displacing a number of the brush fibres (2) by bending them by means of one or more displacement elements (5A to 5I), by retaining at least part of the displaced brush fibres (2) in bent condition by means of one or more auxiliary elements (6A-6B-6C), and by redrawing the displacement elements (5A to 5I).

Abstract: For injection molding of tooth brushes from two different molding material components with tufts of bristles incorporated in the head portions of the brush bodies a molding machine is proposed which includes a tuft loading station, a first injecting station associated with the first material component and a second injecting station associated with the second material component. In one or each injecting station, the stationary molding block has a recess, and a movable mold insert part fits into this recess to complete the stationary mold block. The movable mold insert part is provided with tuft insertion holes and can be transferred to the tuft feeding station where tufts of bristles are loaded into the tuft insertion holes so that they have their inner ends projecting into the mold cavity portion defined by the movable mold insert part. Production of tooth brushes is a continuous sequence of tuft loading and injecting steps.

Abstract: A brush making machine with a mold for injection molding of brush bodies is disclosed. The mold comprises a stationary mold part, a movable mold part and a pair of insert parts fitting into a recess of the movable mold part. The insert parts have tuft insertion holes therein. While one of the complementary mold parts fills the recess of the movable mold part and brush bodies are injection molded with tufts of bristles embedded in the molding material, the other insert part is in a tuft loading station for introducing tufts of bristles into the tuft insertion holes. The tuft feeder comprises movable tuft carriers which carry sets of tufts from the bristle containers to the mold. A robot is provided for moving the carriers between the mold and the bristle containers.

Abstract: Individual tufts of bristles are picked from a supply of pre-cut bristles having rounded utilization-side ends and transferred to a vise. The vise has a number of through holes arranged in a pattern corresponding to that of the tufts on the finished tooth brushes. While tufts of bristles are held in the through holes of the vise with their ends projecting on both sides, a die member having a profiled face is advanced into engagement with the ends of the bristles to move them axially through the holes of the vise and with respect to each other until both ends of the bristles are aligned in parallel planes corresponding in shape to that of the profiled face. The tufts of bristles are now clamped in the vise and transferred to the brush body head to be implanted therein.

Abstract: A machine for making brushes, in particular tooth brushes, comprising two mold members having complementary cavities to define a molding chamber for injection molding a brush body, is further provided with a carrier member mounting at least two plate members provided with tuft-receiving throughholes and a molding surface. The carrier displaces alternatively the plate members between a mold closing position and a tuft loading position in front of a tuft loader and a heating plate.
