Abstract: A medical device comprising: a pump unit, wherein the pump unit is configured to control a pump such that the pump is configured to deliver a treatment to a user as required; a power supply unit comprising one or more batteries; an emergency unit configured to perform an emergency procedure if a fault is detected in one or more circuits of the medical device; and a capacitor; wherein the power supply unit is configured to charge the capacitor; the capacitor is configured to power the pump unit; and the capacitor is configured to provide power to the emergency unit.

Abstract: Multi-pulse drive circuits and methods for loads are described. In one example, a drive circuit includes a switch, and a storage capacitor coupled to the switch on one side and to a ground on the other side configured to supply power to the switch. The switch is configured to alternately connect and disconnect the storage capacitor to the load. A control circuit is coupled to the switch, configured to control the operation of the switch to provide a drive cycle to the load, the drive cycle having a series of pulses.
