  • Patent number: 12390861
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coated cutting tool including a Cr-containing cemented carbide substrate having WC, a binder phase and a gamma phase. The cemented carbide includes a gradient surface zone with a thickness of between 2 to 100 ?m, which is binder phase enriched and depleted of gamma phase. The cemented carbide includes M7C3 carbides in an amount of between 0.5 to 7 area % measured in the bulk, where M is elements being Cr, W and at least one binder metal. The coated cutting inserts shows an improved edge line toughness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2019
Date of Patent: August 19, 2025
    Assignee: AB Sandvik Coromant
    Inventors: Susanne Norgren, Bartek Kaplan
  • Patent number: 11850663
Abstract: A cemented carbide including an eta phase and a Ni—Al binder is provided. The Ni—Al binder includes intermetallic y?-Ni3Al -precipitates embedded in a substitutional solid solution matrix of Al and Ni. A weight ratio Al/Ni of between 0.03 to 0.10, wherein a total amount of Ni and Al is between 70 to 95 wt % of the total binder A method of making a cutting tool is also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2019
Date of Patent: December 26, 2023
    Assignee: AB SANDVIK COROMANT
Inventors: Jose Luis Garcia, Bartek Kaplan, Veronica Collado Cipres
  • Publication number: 20220258237
Abstract: A method of making a 3D printed cermet or cemented carbide body including a hard phase and a metallic binder phase whereby the 3D printed green body is subjected to a sintering process including a holding step prior to a liquid phase sintering step. The sintered bodies have a reduced porosity.
