  • Publication number: 20110045530
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for selective conjugation of bioactive moieties to a polymer or polymerisable compound. The method is more specifically related to the selective conjugation of bioactive moieties to a pendant carboxylic acid, ester or thioester group in which the pendant group is part of a polymer or a polymerisable compound, wherein the method comprises contacting the polymer or polymerisable compound with a hydrolytic enzyme to catalyse the conjugation between the bioactive moiety and the pendant carboxylic acid, ester or thioester group. The conjugation of the bioactive moieties may occur prior to, during or after polymerization of the polymerisable compound. The conjugation of the bioactive moieties may also occur after the polymer is given a form.

  • Publication number: 20100291116
Abstract: Microparticle comprising a cross-linked polymer comprising (a) a cross-linker comprising two or more radically polymerizable groups, preferably selected from the group consisting of alkenes, sulfhydryl (SH), thioic, unsaturated esters, unsaturated urethanes, unsaturated ethers, and unsaturated amides; (b) a monofunctional reactive diluent comprising maximum one unsaturated C—C bond represented by the formula R0—C(R1)?CHR2 Formula (I) wherein —R0 is chosen depending on the structure of a selected active agent (c) to be loaded into the microparticle and is chosen to have a structure that when combined with the other components of the microparticle provides a higher affinity of the selected active agent (c) for the microparticle; —each R1 is chosen from hydrogen and substituted and unsubstituted, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon groups which groups optionally contain one or more moieties selected from the group of ester moieties, ether moieties, thioester moieties, thioether moieties, carbamate

  • Patent number: 7273910
Abstract: Process for the preparation of a functionalized polymer containing an additive, in which process there is formed a compound that contains, besides at least one blocked isocyanate group, a free amino, hydroxy or carboxy group; this compound is linked to an additive via the free amino, hydroxy or carboxy group in the additive; this additive linked to the compound mentioned is contacted with a polymer that contains at least one free amino or hydroxyl group, at a temperature above the polymer's melting point and at least above 150° C., such that the blocked isocyanate group reacts with the free amino or hydroxy group of the polymer to form the functionalized polymer. The invention also relates to the intermediate products formed in the process and in the preparation thereof. Lastly, the invention relates to functionalized polymers and polymer compositions containing the functionalized polymer.
