  • Patent number: 6703914
Abstract: A method and a related apparatus are described for forming gaps into a saddle-shaped deflection coil subsequent to a winding process. The method includes winding a conductive wire into a saddle-shaped deflection coil using a winding machine and bonding the saddle-shaped deflection coil to provide adhesive bonding between winding turns of the coil while the coil remains in the winding machine. Then, the deflection coil is removed from the winding machine and heat is applied to the deflection coil after the deflection coil has been removed from the winding machine to a temperature above a first temperature and below a second temperature. Gaps are formed in the deflection coil subsequent to the winding process while the temperature of the coil is between the first and second temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6552484
Abstract: Apparatus for displaying video images including a vacuum envelope which includes a neck portion and a display screen and an electron gun system. The electron gun system producing at least one electron beam, which in response to a magnetic field converges the at least one electron beam onto the display screen causing video images corresponding to the at least one electron beam to be displayed thereon.

  • Patent number: 6380698
Abstract: A deflection yoke is described for use in a cathode ray tube, which has an improved deflection sensitivity. The deflection yoke includes a ferrite core, a vertical coil to generate a vertically defecting magnetic field and a horizontal coil to generated a horizontally deflecting magnetic field. The core has a funnel-shaped body with an opening therethrough defining an inner surface. The horizontal coil includes a pair of saddle-type coils positioned in the core such that at least a portion of the horizontal coil is in contact with the inner surface of the core.

  • Patent number: 6127776
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing a deflection yoke onto a cathode ray tube includes forming pockets having deformable, resilient inner walls along a circumferential surface of the deflection yoke. When the deflection yoke is mounted on the cathode ray tube, the inner walls deform slightly to conform to a contact portion of the cathode ray tube. The position of the deflection yoke with respect to the cathode ray tube it then adjusted into proper alignment. Once the deflection yoke and cathode ray tube are properly aligned, fast curing epoxy is poured into each of the plastic pockets, wedging the deflection yoke permanently into its desired orientation on the cathode ray tube. The pockets can either be integrally formed with the deflection yoke or they can be manufactured and attached to the deflection yoke in a separate operation.
