Patent number: 12621893Abstract: Systems and methods for managing synchronization of protocol data unit (PDU) sessions between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a determination of whether a message comprising a PDU session status information element (IE) should be sent is based on previous messaging between peer entities of the network. In some embodiments, a determination that the peer entity is informed of a relevant PDU session status is made after expected reply messaging is received in response to prior messaging. In some cases, a reply message without a PDU session status IE is sent from one entity to a peer entity when it is determined that each entity has a matching PDU session status. Cases involving failures detected at the network, and cases where an entity activates a data radio bearer (DRB) of a PDU session that is inactive at its peer are also discussed.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2021Date of Patent: May 5, 2026Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Nirlesh Koshta, Anikethan Ramakrishna Vijaya Kumar, Basant Kumar, Krisztian Kiss, Pradeep Pangi, Sridhar Prakasam

Publication number: 20260046758Abstract: Techniques are provided for restricted radio access technology-based cell selection. An example method can include processing information from a public land mobile network (PLMN) indicating a first restricted radio access technology (RAT). The method can further include accessing memory to identify a set of RATs for connecting with the PLMN. The method can further include selecting a second RAT instead of the first restricted RAT from the set of RATs-based on the indication of the first restricted RAT. The method can further include connecting with a cell of the PLMN using the second RAT.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2025Publication date: February 12, 2026Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Vivek G. Patent number: 12464076Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for managing the generation and processing of charging data records (CDRs) in a telecommunication environment (e.g., a fourth generation (4G) a fifth generation (5G), or future generation mobile network). The systems described herein involve predicting lengths of CDRs prior to encoding and providing the CDRs to a charging gateway function to ensure that the CDRs do not exceed a maximum allowable length that the charging gateway function is capable of processing while also reducing the total number of CDR packages that are encoded and transmitted. Indeed, the systems described herein can predict the length of the CDRs incrementally as charging containers are added, thus limiting the number of CDRs that are generated and processed.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2023Date of Patent: November 4, 2025Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Devesh Verma, Krishnakumar Vijayan, Kumar Arakere Basavaraj, Girish R. Publication number: 20250267566Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable media to perform operations for network slice enhancements. The operations include detecting a Tracking Area (TA) change due to a handover during a mobility registration update procedure (MRU) of a user equipment (UE) in a 5G Mobility Management (5GMM)-CONNECTED state, in response to detecting the TA change and a new TA being a part of a registration area associated with the UE during the MRU procedure, continuing to perform the MRU procedure; in response to detecting the TA change and the new TA being outside of the registration area associated with the UE during the MRU procedure, remaining in the 5GMM-CONNECTED state; aborting the MRU procedure; and re-initiating a new MRU procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2025Publication date: August 21, 2025Inventors: Vivek G. Publication number: 20250039779Abstract: Techniques are described for slice based public land mobile network selection. An example method includes a network node of a home public land mobile network (HPLMN) transmitting configuration information to a user equipment (UE) to configure the UE to receive enhanced slice-based steering of roaming (SoR) information during a registration process with a visited public land mobile network (VPLMN). The method further includes the network node determining that the UE is registering with the VPLMN. The method further includes the network node transmitting the enhanced slice-based SoR information to the UE based on the determination that the UE is registering with the VPLMN.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2024Publication date: January 30, 2025Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Vivek G.
