  • Patent number: 9833735
Abstract: A method for removing sulfur-based gases from a gas stream comprises contacting a sulfur containing gas stream under dynamic flow conditions with granular activated carbon (GAC) to adsorb substantially all sulfur-containing gas from the gas stream. The granular activated carbon (GAC) can be derived from date palm pits.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 29, 2015
Date of Patent: December 5, 2017
Assignee: KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM AND MINERALS
Inventors: Muhammad Shariq Vohra, Bashir Alhaji Labaran

  • Patent number: 9162902
Abstract: A method for the removal of aqueous phase selenite and selenate species using TiO2 assisted photocatalysis employing the use of artificial light, or solar radiation, in conjunction with EDTA as a hole scavenger. Among the two processes, UV-lamp assisted photocatalysis has the highest efficiency comparatively followed by solar light assisted photocatalysis. TiO2 mediated photocatalysis in conjunction with EDTA as an h+ scavenging agent is an efficient technique for selenium ion removal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2014
Date of Patent: October 20, 2015
Assignees: KING FHAD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM AND MINERALS, KING ABDULAZIZ CITY FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
