    Abstract: A separation apparatus comprises a base defining a mounting surface with a length and a width. The separation apparatus further includes a pair of clamps configured for toolless operation. The pair of clamps are spaced apart from one another along the length of the mounting surface and configured to inhibit a movement of the sample plate relative to the mounting surface. In further examples, methods of separating a magnetic material within containment areas of a sample plate are provided including the step of clamping a first edge portion of the sample plate with the spring clip and clamping a second edge portion of the sample plate with a jaw mechanism. The method further includes the step of inverting the base together with the sample plate such that liquid drains from the containment areas while magnetic material remains in the containment areas under the influence of respective magnets.
