Abstract: A flotation vest which has a flexible, resilient mast attached thereto. The mast has a brightly colored signal flag secured to the uppermost portion of the mast. The mast is securely fastened at one end to the vest, and is bent over a wearer's shoulder and the other end is detachably secured within easy reach of the wearer. In this position the mast and attached flag are out of the user's way while they are engaged in water sport activities, however, the mast and flag can be easily and quickly deployed if a mishap occurs and the wearer is thrown into the water.
