  • Publication number: 20180098828
Abstract: An additively manufactured dental crown with a wall having a bottom edge and an occlusal portion joined with the wall opposite the bottom edge. The wall and occlusal portion form an interior surface and an opposing exterior surface. By using additive manufacturing and materials for such, the dental crown can have thin walls with a thickness of less than 300 microns at the thinnest portion of it and can include fine printed features such as identifiers, internal ribs, slots, porous meshes, and retention elements.

  • Publication number: 20180071062
Abstract: A method of making a dental restoration has the steps of providing a three-dimensional model of a dental restoration, providing a three-dimensional virtual model (21) of an anterior incisal portion of a patient's tooth, superimposing the dental restoration model and the incisal portion model (21), and automatically recessing the dental restoration model, and thereby creating a reduced dental restoration model. The method helps combining the advantages of monolithic dental restorations and manual finishing.

  • Publication number: 20170258565
Abstract: A method of making a dental restoration has the step of providing a precursor of the dental restoration. The dental restoration has at least a first and a second surface portion which are delimited by a physical boundary structure. The method further has the steps of applying a first coloring solution associated with the first surface portion onto the first surface portion, sintering the dental restoration precursor, and removing the physical boundary structure.

  • Patent number: 9326833
Abstract: A method in the preparation of a dental restoration, in which the dental restoration has an implant unit and a head structure interconnectible with one another, comprises the steps of providing an auxiliary material, providing a computerized head receiving surface representation (A?), manufacturing from the auxiliary material a measuring element having a measuring surface (M) and an implant unit coupling surface (X). The measuring surface (M) is adapted such that it can be captured by an optical measuring device, and the measuring element coupling surface (X) is adapted for mating with the head receiving surface (A). The method may help making the preparation of a dental restoration more time and cost efficient.

  • Patent number: 9138302
Abstract: A method of making a dental workpiece is provided. The method comprises the steps of suspending machining of the workpiece, exposing the workpiece to a first air jet; and causing relative movement between the first air jet and the workpiece under numeric control. The method may facilitate manufacturing of dental workpieces.

  • Patent number: 8770975
Abstract: A method of making a dental restoration is provided. The dental restoration comprises a frame and a veneer. An inner veneer surface and an outer frame surface are adapted to be mated with one another to form the dental restoration. The method in particular comprises steps of (a) providing an outer veneer surface; (b) determining an outer frame surface, based on the outer veneer surface; (c) determining an inner veneer surface, based on the outer frame surface; and (d) providing an inner frame surface, based on a natural tooth surface. The method may be advantageous for rapid, precise and inexpensive manufacturing of a dental restoration.
