  • Patent number: 8354986
Abstract: A displaying method for trans-flective type display device is provided. The pixel array of the display device has a selected pixel unit formed by three sub-pixels selected from three basic-color sub-pixels and one enhancement sub-pixel, wherein there is a reflective area within the enhancement sub-pixel. The displaying method includes the following steps. Firstly, an original image having an image data is provided to the display device. Next, when the backlight is turned off, the resolution of the original image is scaled down for obtaining an adjusted image data. Then, another pixel unit consisting of the three basic-color sub-pixels and the enhancement sub-pixel is re-selected, and the driving value of the enhancement sub-pixel is calculated according to the adjusted image data for driving the enhancement sub-pixel.

  • Publication number: 20080049002
Abstract: A scan line driving method of a liquid crystal display divides scan times of a first scan line and a second scan line so that enabled times of the first scan line and the second scan line respectively equal a charge time and a discharge time. The first scan line and the second scan line respectively control a first row of pixels and a second row of pixels of the liquid crystal display.

  • Publication number: 20060274253
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes an upper board and a lower board that couple each other and form a space therebetween, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the upper board and the lower board and a plurality of spacers located in the space between the upper board and the lower board. The spacers are conductive so that the liquid crystal layer and the spacers form two equivalent parallel resistive paths to conduct the extra charges in the liquid crystals. When the LCD is subject to an external high static charge source, the static partial voltage found in the liquid crystal layer is reduced because of the lower equivalent parallel resistance, thus the damage and the interference on the liquid crystals in the liquid crystal layer caused by the external static charge source may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5978062
Abstract: A closed-cavity liquid-crystal display is provided, which is a liquid-crystal display having a wide angle of view. The liquid-crystal display comprises: an insulator layer formed with a plurality of cavities extending completely through the insulating layer, in which liquid-crystal material is filled into the plurality of cavities; a first substrate, placed on one side of the insulator layer, in which a first electrode is formed on one side of the first substrate near the insulator layer; and a second substrate, placed on the other side of the insulator layer, in which a second electrode is formed on one side of the second substrate near the insulator layer, so that the first electrode and the second electrode are used to drive and vary the alignment of liquid-crystal molecules in the plurality of cavities.
