  • Patent number: 8538748
Abstract: A method and apparatus which enhance a voice signal received by a reception terminal from a transmission terminal, the method including: detecting a magnitude of a noise signal peripheral to the reception terminal; checking a volume level which is set in the reception terminal while the voice signal is received from the transmission terminal; and adaptively enhancing at least one of a volume and an articulation of the voice signal on the basis of a magnitude of the noise signal and the checked volume level.

  • Patent number: 8457215
Abstract: A receiver suppresses noise simultaneously using a noise suppressor and an automatic gain controller (AGC). The receiver divides a received signal into an audio period and a non-audio period, analyzes whether the noise characteristic of the non-audio period corresponds to a non-static noise or a static noise, and if the noise characteristic corresponds to the static noise, analyzes whether the static noise is caused by a network or a transmitter side terminal. In accordance with the analyzed noise characteristic, the noise suppressor firstly suppresses the noise by determining the noise suppressing intensity, and sends a signal, from which the noise has been firstly suppressed, to the AGC. The AGC secondly suppresses the noise included in the signal. In this case, the threshold value of the AGC is controlled in real time in accordance with the noise characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20120172022
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided to output a received call with a volume adjusted to a reference level range in the etiquette call mode. In the method for providing the etiquette call mode of a mobile device, the apparatus determines whether the etiquette call mode is activated in a call mode. When the etiquette call mode is activated, the apparatus establishes a transmission gain to a given gain value and also establishes a reception gain to a specific gain value corresponding to a minimum receiving volume level. Then the apparatus amplifies a received call by means of the established reception gain, adjusts a volume of the amplified received call to a given reference level range, and outputs the adjusted received call through a speaker.
