  • Patent number: 7195395
Abstract: A dental sensor clamp has a clamp body with a connector on one end for connecting the sensor clamp to a bite plate. A clamp body opposite end has a fixed stop locatable adjacent an apical area of a tooth. A clamping slide is mounted within a thickness of the clamp body, and the clamping slide supports a member providing a resilient clamping force upon the member being moved against the sensor and the fixed stop. The dental sensor clamp reliably secures an imaging sensor adjacent the apical area of the tooth.

  • Publication number: 20060234187
Abstract: A cheek and lip retractor for dentistry comprises respective cheek portions and lip portions for the upper and lower lips. In one embodiment, the lip portions each comprise a lip shield and mucosa pads that are separate and spaced apart from the lip shield. The lip shield includes a first side edge that is disposed within a patient's mouth, and a second side edge that is disposed outside the patient's mouth, when the retractor is used to separate the lips of the patient. The cheek portions and lip portions are connected to each other by flexible connecting elements, and the connecting elements are disposed between the lip shields and the mucosa pads. In another embodiment, the cheek portions of the retractor include first side edges disposed within a patient's mouth, and second side edges disposed outside the patient's mouth during use to separate the lips of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20050130099
Abstract: A dental instrument with interchangeable roller tips for distributing restorative materials on a tooth surface quickly, precisely and homogeneously with little adherence of the restorative material to the instrument. The instrument has an elongate body with a handle portion and one or two working ends extending therefrom with a roller tip rotatably mounted on each working end. The roller tip may be removable from the working end, such that differently shaped tips may be used interchangeably during the restoration of the tooth, as necessary. The roller tip may rotate directly about the working end, or alternatively, a bushing or bearing may be rotatably mounted on the working end between the working end and the roller tip, such that the roller tip is rotatable on the working end by means of the rotatable bushing or bearing.

  • Publication number: 20040042976
Abstract: A material is proposed as an essential abrasive component for cleaning agents in cleaning products for delicate surfaces which is essentially composed of platelets. These platelets are preferably shaped without sharp points, i.e. their circumference is similar to a polygon whose corners do not show angles that are in the majority smaller than 30° and greater than 330°. Glass flakes are for example such a material. The abrasive component of the invention may for example be used for the manufacture of toothpastes and prophylaxis pastes that are efficient but nevertheless not harmful to teeth.

  • Patent number: 6576225
Abstract: A dental care composition for the prophylactic dental hygiene (prophylactic paste) comprises as principal components the following: from 10 to 80% by weight, preferably from 35 to 55% by weight, of a polishing body containing plate shaped rock particles, preferably perlite particles; from 20 to 80% by weight, preferably from 40 to 50% by weight, of a nonionic, preferably polymeric surface active agent; and from 0 to 20% by weight, preferably from 1 to 10% by weight, of an emulsifier or emulsifier blend. Polyethylene glycols (Macrogol) having molecular weights of from 200 to 1,000, preferably of from 200 to 600, are particularly suited as pure compounds or as a blend of different variants having different molecular weights. The dental care composition shows a smooth and soft consistency and has only a weak tendency of being splashed during its application in the mouth.

  • Patent number: 6071122
Abstract: The adhesion of dental restorative materials, more particularly of composite materials containing an organic binder, to dental instruments can be reduced, essentially independently of the material of which the dental instrument is made, by providing the working surfaces with impressions. These impressions result in a reduction of the contact surface of the composite material on the working surface and thus in a reduction of the component of the adhesion which is due to physical attraction, e.g. to the van der Waals force. If the impressions are sufficiently small, a penetration of the composite material into the impressions is prevented by the high viscosity of the latter alone. If additionally the impressions are capable of being sealed by the tooth replacement material in contact therewith, an air cushion forms in the impressions which additionally counteracts a penetration of the tooth replacement material.

  • Patent number: 6019603
Abstract: The dental device comprises an abrasive disk having a hub made of synthetic material and a spindle with a collet, the opening of the hub having an inner bead and the collet a rotation lock and an axial lock for receiving said bead in the hub opening, the greatest diameter of the spindle with its rotation lock being greater than the diameter of the hub opening with its bead. This construction allows, on one hand, an easier mounting of the abrasive disk on the spindle, and, on the other hand, a high torque transmission.

  • Patent number: 5951801
Abstract: The method for joining a metal foil with a synthetic material foil comprises unwinding both materials from a supply roll each, and subjecting the synthetics foil, prior to the application of an adhesive, to a corona discharge on a narrow border region. The metal foil and the synthetic material foil are then pressed together and irradiated by ultraviolet radiation causing polymerization of the adhesive. The composite foil material thus obtained is transferred to a further processing station. There the dental matrix can be punched out of such a composite sheet material, having a high tensile strength, whose metal portion can easily be inserted between two adjacent teeth whereas the transparent synthetic material part allows light curing of the dental filling material.
