Abstract: A method for managing operational risk and return with respect to a portfolio of service-level agreements is provided, wherein the method uses a noncompliance risk measure to calculate risk; and wherein, principals of portfolio theory are applied to characterize the portfolio for comparison with other possible portfolios.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for maintaining an organized and automated archiving and retrieval system including a personal bibliography of original documents or other original real objects as well as an electronic archive containing copies of such original real objects with guaranteed access. Essentially this is done by establishing a machine and/or human readable “unique identifier” (UID) distributed with each original real object, a so-called personal archive allowing a person (or a group of persons) to maintain a personal bibliography, a managed storage containing electronic copies of the distributed original real objects, and means for a controlled, but guaranteed access to the stored electronic copies.

Abstract: Method of management in a circuit-switched communication network (1), performed on or with the aid of at least a programmable apparatus (10) connected to said network. It comprises the step of computing and storing in an electronic memory a representation of the network based on B-blocking islands (Ni). Each B-blocking island consists of a set of nodes (A-g) linked in such a way that at least one route with at least an amount B of available concave resources exists between any pair of nodes in the set at the time t. The B-blocking islands (Ni) are organized in a hierarchy, wherein the hierarchical position of each Bi-blocking island depends on the choice of the values Bi used for defining said blocking island. The available bandwidth resources are thus summarized in order to reduce the complexity of network management tasks. Bottlenecks in the network are highlighted. The B-blocking-island hierarchy can be incrementally maintained.

Abstract: A computer method and a computer system with readable medium (including a hardcoded system) encoded with a computerized method of computing a Blocking island Controu Map for a network graph of a network is provided. The method comprises the acts of ordering links; using the ordered links to abstract restrictive costs, thus identifying critical links, and using the links to make decisions concerning the network.

Abstract: A teleconferencing system comprised of one or more telecommunication systems; two or more subscriber terminals connected to the telecommunication systems; an electronic computing means connected any telecommunication system of the teleconferencing system. The electronic computing means, e.g. a server-type computer runs a conference initiating program; and a means for providing an availability signal associated with each subscriber terminal. The availability signal is accessible to the server and any participating telecommunication system is capable of cooperating with program for initiating a conference between the subscriber terminals; program initiates a conference between the subscriber terminals by attempting transmission of a conference call when such call is requested by any of the subscriber terminals; the conference call is transmitted to each subscriber terminal as soon as its associated availability signal indicates availability of that terminal.
