  • Patent number: 6449982
Abstract: A process for partial liquefaction of a fluid G at least partially formed from hydrocarbons simultaneously produces: a fraction that is liquid after expansion; a gas fraction representing at least 10% by weight, which can either be re-injected or used to produce electricity; and comprises at least two refrigeration steps during which: in the first step a), the essentially gaseous fluid G is cooled using an external refrigerant M such that at the end of said first step, it is at least partially liquid at the operating pressure; and in the second step b), liquefaction of said fluid G is completed if necessary and said fluid G is sub-cooled, using a portion of the same fluid G, said portion being thus expanded and vaporised to produce the cooling necessary to recover the other portion of said fluid G that is completely liquid at the storage pressure.

  • Publication number: 20020124594
Abstract: For the separation of acid, carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from a gaseous mixture comprising at least one lighter gas, e.g. methane, the gaseous mixture (1) is precooled at least once during a heat exchange operation E2; the resultant precooled gas mixture, flowing upwardly is cooled and rectified simultaneously in an approximately vertical heat exchange zone (ER) forming a downwardly-flowing countercurrent liquid reflux; the resultant rectified gaseous fraction (8) depleted in acid gases and enriched in light gas is collected at the top of the vertical exchange zone; and (d) a liquid fraction (4) enriched in acid gas components is collected at the bottom of the exchange zone. The collected liquid fraction (4) can be expanded and evaporated to provide cooling. The system has particular application for the treatment of natural gas or in petroleum refining or recovery operations.

  • Patent number: 6318119
Abstract: Process allowing to fractionate a gas, wherein: the gas is cooled from T0 to a temperature T1, at least part of gas phase G1 is sent to an expansion stage (X1) in order to obtain a mixed phase M2 at a temperature T2 and at a pressure P2, mixed phase M2 is sent to a heat exchange stage where it serves as a cooling agent, and after which it is heated, liquid phase L1 is sent to an expansion stage, the heated mixed phase and the expanded liquid phase are sent to a separation stage so as to obtain a gas phase and a liquid phase, and the gas phase is fractionated by distillation performed by means of continuous heat exchange with mixed phase M2, and the light constituents are extracted as gas and the heavy constituents as condensates, the fractionation stage being performed after the stage of expansion of mixed phase M2.

  • Patent number: 6281402
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for continuous metathesis or disproportionation of olefins, comprising at least 2 phases, a reaction phase a) carried out in a zone comprising at least one reactor containing at least one fixed bed of catalyst and a regeneration phase b) carried out in a zone comprising at least one reactor containing at least one fixed bed of catalyst, characterized in that at least one reactor passes from one phase to the other in alternation. In FIG. 1, the feed containing olefins traverses reactor R1 in riser mode. The feed to be treated containing olefins is introduced into reactor R1 via line 1a. In this reactor, the olefins contained in the feed undergo metathesis or disproportionation, then the effluent leaves the circuit via line 11. Simultaneously, reactor R2 is placed in catalyst regeneration phase, the different regeneration gases are introduced into reactor R2 via line 2b and leave this reactor via line 2c.

  • Patent number: 6041619
Abstract: Method of liquefying a natural gas wherein a first coolant mixture M.sub.1 is used for the first cooling stage and a second coolant mixture M.sub.2 for the second cooling stage, said mixture M.sub.2 being cooled in the first cooling stage by means of the first coolant mixture (by vaporization after expansion) in order to obtain a condensed, single-phase mixture M.sub.2 at the outlet and in that mixture M.sub.2 is vaporized to cool the second cooling stage at least partially.
