  • Publication number: 20220074127
Abstract: A method for the treatment of wool garments with ozone gas to control and inhibit their felting and shrinkage during their subsequent industrial finishing process and/or domestic washing care, and a wool garment treated with said method. The method includes wetting the garments and treating the garments inside the interior of a rotative tumbler for a time period of between 15 and 60 minutes at ambient temperature with ozone gas, the ozone gas being at a concentration in air of between 20 g ozone/Nm3 and 150 g ozone/Nm3, where the rotative tumbler which contains the garments is rotated at a speed of between 10 rounds/min and 25 rounds/min. The method is improved by adding treating the garments with enzymes.

  • Patent number: 11234635
Abstract: Evaluating a pressure ulcer includes: detecting in a color input image a boundary of the pressure ulcer to get a RGB region of interest (ROI) image; converting the RGB ROI image to a grayscale ROI image; processing the grayscale ROI image using a Linear Combination of Discrete Gaussians (LCDG) process to estimate three main class probabilities of the grayscale ROI image; processing the RGB ROI image using predetermined RGB values to estimate the three main class probabilities of the RGB ROI image; and combining the probabilities of the grayscale ROI image and the probabilities of the RGB ROI image to determine an estimated labeled image; and normalizing and refining the estimated labeled image using a Generalized Gauss-Markov Random Field (GGMRF) process to produce a final segmentation image.

  • Publication number: 20190233906
Abstract: Novel strains of Staphylococcus aureus and uses thereof. The invention provides mutant strains of S. aureus devoid of all non-essential two-component signal systems (TCSs) and even the essential walKR system, the intermediate mutants devoid of a number of TCSs and their uses as research and biotechnological platform. The mutants devoid of all non-essential TCSs are viable, stable under laboratory growing conditions, genetically manageable and capable to express heterologous proteins. Having them allows individual analysis and targeting of each TCS, its individual complementation and obtaining information about the sensing systems that can be useful for biotechnological applications based or directed to S. aureus, such as the identification of novel antimicrobials.

  • Publication number: 20140170125
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) for the prevention and/or treatment of acute renal injury, specially of acute kidney injury induced by nephrotoxic agents, such as contrast agents, antibiotics, immunosuppressive agents or antineoplastic agents. The invention is also related to compositions comprising said nephrotoxic agents and cardiotrophin-1.

  • Patent number: 8586058
Abstract: Method for producing multiple modifications in the chromosome of Gram-negative bacteria and Salmonella strains which are deficient in c-di-GMP synthesis obtained by said method. The method can be used to make multiple modifications in the genome of Gram-negative bacteria, simply and efficiently, using the plasmids of the invention, which comprise a marker gene under the control of a constitutive promoter, a replication origin specific for Gram-negative bacteria, a gene which encodes a heat-sensitive protein essential for initiating replication of the plasmid, making the replication origin heat-sensitive, and a counter-selection gene. The invention also relates to mutant Salmonella enterica strains obtained using the method of the invention in which some of the twelve genes which encode proteins with GGDEF domain have been selected*, and to the use thereof as expression vectors, immunotherapeutic agents and in metabolic studies.
