    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operating a timer in an integrated circuit (IC) are disclosed herein. The IC includes a timer, a receiver configured to receive a circuit switched (CS) service notification, a transmitter configured to transmit an evolved packet system mobility management extended service request (ESR) message, and a processor configured to start the timer in response to transmitting the ESR and stop the timer in response to reception of a handover command and completion of a CS fallback procedure by the receiver, wherein the handover command directs the IC to handover to another radio access technology (RAT) so that a CS call may be established. The processor may be configured to stop the timer in response to reception of a cell change command and completion of a CS fallback procedure by the receiver, wherein the cell change command directs the IC to perform a cell change procedure.

The apparatus is configured to receive a special identifier in response to the Service Request, which indicates the apparatus should be redirected to a dedicated CN node based on subscription information. Radio access network resources associated with the apparatus may be released and the apparatus may then perform a tracking area update (TAU) request which is then forwarded to the dedicated CN node.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for time-based fast positive acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK) reporting (FANR) operation with enhanced general packet radio service 2 uplink (HUGE) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) configures downlink FANR operation and EGPRS-2 mode uplink transmission not to be in conflict. A modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for the EGPRS-2 mode may be limited to an MCS containing at most two RLC data blocks. Alternatively, three or more piggybacked ACK/NACK (PAN) bits may be used for a time-based FANR operation if an EGPRS-2 mode is configured. Alternatively, at least one PAN bit may indicate an ACK/NACK for a group of RLC data blocks. The number of PAN bits for a time-based FANR operation may be configured by the network. The downlink FANR operation may be dynamically switched between time-based and SSN-based.

The method includes receiving, by a second AP in the other network, a request to connect to the other network; and transitioning the LIPA session in the local IP network to a managed remote access (MRA) session in the other network.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for machine type communication (MTC) authentication and triggering may be performed by an MTC interworking function (MTC-IWF). On a condition an Internet protocol (IP) connection does not exist between a services capability server (SCS) and an MTC device, a device trigger message may be received by the MTC device over a Tsp interface. The device trigger message may include a cryptographic key and may have an associated level of urgency. The method may further comprise determining a level of network congestion and transmitting the device trigger, including the received cryptographic key, to the MTC device in accordance with the associated level of urgency. A report may be sent to the SCS, associated with the determined level of network congestion, to indicate either success or failure of the device triggering procedure. The received cryptographic key may be used to secure an IP connection.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus of performing selective internet protocol (IP) selective offload (SIPTO) or local IP access (LIPA) is disclosed. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) receives a broadcast message from a Node-B. Then the WTRU receives a message from the Node-B that SIPTO service, or LIPA service is available for that WTRU. The WTRU then communicates using the SIPTO or LIPA service. A method an apparatus for receiving a paging message for SIPTO or LIPA services is also disclosed. The paging message includes an indicator that indicates that the message is for SIPTO or LIPA communications. The indicator may be a temporary mobile subscriber identity (TMSI) assigned by the network specifically for SITPO or LIPA communications. The indicator may also be a single bit designated to indicate that a paging message is a for SIPTO or LIPA traffic.
