  • Patent number: 8855628
Abstract: A wireless communication assembly (20) includes a visitor location register (42) that accesses a mobile station memory portion (44) that stores a visiting mobile subscriber's profile including an indication of the wireless features available to that subscriber. When a call needs to be setup involving the visiting mobile subscriber, the visitor network locally sets up the call by using the stored indication of the visiting mobile subscriber's profile from the mobile station memory portion (44). There is no need for contacting the subscriber's home network for purposes of setting up the call, which reduces the amount of signaling and communication between the visitor network and the subscriber's home network.

  • Publication number: 20080275883
Abstract: An IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network includes a plurality of network elements that are interconnected for directly or indirectly communicating with one another. One of the network elements houses (or embodies) a consolidated subscriber database. The consolidate subscriber database is the only data storage entity in the IMS network for non-transitory storage of consolidated user data (that is, data relating to multiple user), for purposes of carrying out the core communication functions of the network. The user data is data relating to subscribers (e.g., end users) and subscriber services in the IMS network, such as user profile data and data relating to supplementary user services, e.g., call forwarding, call waiting, and the like. The consolidated database replaces the multiple database typically present in an IMS network, thereby lowering operational expenditures and simplifying data management operations.

  • Publication number: 20080276068
Abstract: An IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network includes (i) a plurality of network elements that are directly or indirectly interconnected for carrying out communications and (ii) an integrated IMS network control unit interfaced with the other network elements. The control unit integrates three IMS network functions into one network node: a multimedia resource function (MRF) module, which incorporates a multimedia resource function controller (MRFC) and/or one or more multimedia resource function processors (MRFP), e.g., media servers; a media gateway control function (MGCF); and a media gateway (MGW). The external physical interface of the control unit mimics the typical interfaces of the MRF/MRFC, MGCF, and MGW, were they to be provided as separate network elements/nodes. As such, the control unit is both physically and logically transparent to the rest of the network, as relating to the integrated MRF, MGCF, and MGW functions.

  • Patent number: 6274808
Abstract: An enclosure protects electronic equipment from physical contact and electromagnetic interference. The enclosure includes a base portion which is attachable to a circuit board and which surrounds all sides of the electronic equipment. A cover is attachable to the base in order to cover the top of the electronic equipment. The cover is attachable to the base by snap-in tangs formed on the base which cooperate with projections formed on the cover. The base is attachable to the circuit board by snap-in fasteners formed on the base. The base and the cover are made of a material which reflects and/or absorbs EMI. The EMI shielding enclosure protects the electronic equipment and allows access to the electronic equipment for replacement or repair without having to take the time to manipulate separate mechanical fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6266877
Abstract: An electronic isolation shield mounts on a circuit board, around an electronic component to provide a minimum amount of shielding over a set period of time. The shield has a body made from a shielding material that is sized and shaped to fit around and cover the electronic component. The body has a sealing edge that is adapted to contact an upper surface of the circuit board and surround the electronic component. Resilient downwardly projecting tabs are attached to the body and each includes a securing end that extends past the sealing edge. The tab is securable to the circuit board along a securing axis. The sealing edge of the body is forced into sealing engagement with the upper surface of circuit board. The tab is laterally displaced with respect to the securing axis continuously over the set period of time so that the sealing edge is forced into the circuit board sufficiently to provide the minimum amount of shielding to the electronic component over the set period of time.

  • Patent number: 6151210
Abstract: A modular apparatus is described which houses electronic equipment. The apparatus includes a plurality of electronic modules surrounded by an air vent system. In one embodiment, the air vent system cools the electronic components indirectly, through a connection module. In another embodiment the electronic components are cooled directly. One of the main advantages of the present invention is its modular configuration which allows additional components to be added with relative ease as the requirements of the system are expanded over time.
