    Abstract: A method for covalently cross-linking hyaluronic acid (HA) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) by a diepoxide crosslinking agent. The method includes the following steps: a) mixing HA and HPMC in water; b) adding an alkali as a catalyst and a diepoxide as a crosslinking agent; c) neutralizing with hydrochloric acid and dehydrating with ethanol and acetone; and d) drying in vacuum and redissolving in water to obtain an HA-HPMC composite gel.
