  • Patent number: 4210174
Abstract: A positive pressure valve is provided having a valve member with a central magnetically attracted member spaced from and coaxial with a rod like magnet, said valve member and magnet being relatively movable to adjust the magnetic attraction between them and thus the opening pressure of the valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 1978
Date of Patent: July 1, 1980
    Assignee: Instrumentation Industries, Inc.
    Inventor: Bela Eross
  • Patent number: 4045058
Abstract: The specification discloses a coupling device comprising a sleeve, forming an adapter for connecting tubing of different sizes, particularly tubing used in respiratory systems in hospitals. The sleeve has fixed thereto a pair of external diametrically disposed mushroom-like buttons by which an elastic tape with a series of holes secures a tubing to the sleeve and prevents accidental separation therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4021367
Abstract: A process for recovering reusable suspended metal catalyst with a pre-determined minimum particle size from a suspension of metal particles in a liquid phase by subjecting the suspension to a continuously moving magnetic field of a minimum intensity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 28, 1975
Date of Patent: May 3, 1977

  • Patent number: 3990996
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous process for the preparation of Raney catalysts with controlled particle size, wherein the alloy of the catalytically active metal formed with aluminium and/or zinc is subjected to alkaline leaching, the hydrogen gas formed in this leaching step is separated and removed, the obtained product is washed, and the obtained catalyst with the desired particle size is separated. The improvement in this process comprises leaching the aluminium and/or zinc component of the alloy in a medium constantly kept in a turbulent flow, and removing the solid particles smaller than the desired range during the washing of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 3968812
Abstract: The specification discloses drain valve apparatus for automatically draining condensed moisture from tubing, such as tubing connected to a respirator or nebulizer, without admitting ambient air to the tubing. One embodiment of drain valve apparatus comprises a casing of transparent plastic material having a chamber from which condensed moisture flows to atmosphere. A diaphragm valve, of the bulb-type, is biased to seated position to prevent admittance of ambient air to the tubing and opens only responsively to a certain weight of accumulated moisture active thereon to allow moisture to enter the chamber. In a second embodiment, a diaphragm valve is activated to seated position by a second bulb-type diaphragm connected thereto and subject to the pressure in the tubing. Also, a check valve prevents back flow of ambient air to the tubing under negative pressure conditions in the tubing.

  • Patent number: 3946742
Abstract: An endotracheal tube holder includes a support arm mounting a tube retainer, an elongated chin mount that is held by a neck strap against the chin and in turn positions the support arm with the tube holder located between the wearer's teeth. A releasable strap detachably holds the tube in the retainer. A friction pivot connects the base of the arm to the chin mount so as to permit adjustive shifting of the tube retainer transversely across the mouth.
