Abstract: In order to test the operatability of the section which dispenses a hose-shaped foil from a foil storage, which hose-shaped foil is advancable by one seat length after each use of the lavatory by means of a drive and a spent foil take-up means a check is made prior to every advancing operation if foil is still present in the foil storage. A detecting system checks if the hose-shaped foil moves, whereby simultaneously the current for the operation is checked. If such is the case a control signal is generated which indicates the operatability of the said end can be used, for instance, for deblocking access to the lavatory.

Abstract: In the take-up spool of a device for applying and conveying a hose-shaped protective covering for a toilet seat, a cavity is provided into which disc-shaped tablets can be inserted for deodorization and/or disinfection. The cavity has stops for securing the tablets' position and openings for discharging the agents given off by the tablets to the air.

Abstract: A tubular toilet seat cover is stored on a reel and pulled off from this reel as it is replaced, and the used cover is taken up on another reel. By actuating a drive mechanism, the cover is moved through a predetermined distance in such manner that when it is in the mounted position, the toilet seat body is surrounded by the tubular cover and the cover covers the important part of the toilet seat. The toilet seat, drive mechanism and storage device constitute a structural unit which is mountable as a whole on a conventional toilet seat, or it may constitute a unit with a toilet seat.
