Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for generating a color scheme data structure for a digital image. A computing device retrieves a digital image, the image comprising a plurality of pixels and each pixel comprising a plurality of color values. The computing device generates a first plurality of color clusters based upon the color values, each color cluster comprising a plurality of RGB values. The computing device determines a first count of pixels that are similar to at least one of the color clusters and a second count of pixels that are dissimilar to at least one of the color clusters. The computing device assigns each of the pixels to one or more color bins based upon the associated color values. The computing device defines a color scheme data structure for the image, and tags the image with the defined color scheme data structure and the first plurality of color clusters.
