Abstract: A method of correcting postal name and address information according to the invention includes the step of comparing the name and address information to at least one database of known names and associated addresses to determine if the name and address information matches a known postal recipient. if no match is found, the name and address information is corrected by comparing fields of the name and address information with corresponding fields from the database of known names and addresses, and deducing an incorrect or missing field in the name and address information. An action is then taken using the corrected name and address information, depending on the setting in which the method is used. In most cases, the corrected name and address information will be saved to a computer data storage medium for future use.
