Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for determining one or more inventory items from an inventory for fulfilling an items order. In one embodiment, one or more sets of inventory items are selected from available inventory to fulfill orders in such a way that a minimum number of inventory item sets are allocated for fulfilling the order. This in turn reduces the number of picks that must be made when gathering inventory items for an order. The inventory items sets may include standard pack quantities and/or indivisible items.
