  • Publication number: 20100174437
Abstract: Vehicle properties are determined by providing both actual and real-time data of the tires to the vehicle control system. The data includes both static and dynamic tire data. The properties are determined by the following steps: a) putting a vehicle in motion, the vehicle being provided with a set of tires and a vehicle control system wherein at least one tire has means to communicate with the vehicle control system and the vehicle control system has a processor, a vehicle observer, and a preprogrammed vehicle model; b) sending either static or dynamic tire information from the tire to the vehicle control system via the tire communication means; and c) estimating a vehicle property using the received tire information.

  • Patent number: 7444408
Abstract: A database stores information about known hosts, the applications or services they host, and the ports (known as confirmed ports) used by the applications/services. A static traffic analyzer analyzes traffic data and identifies packets communicating with (either sent to or received from) confirmed ports on hosts. A dynamic traffic analyzer analyzes the traffic data and identifies packets communicating with unconfirmed ports on hosts. A host identifier uses the resulting static and dynamic traffic to identify hosts for which firewall rules should be generated.

  • Publication number: 20080234912
Abstract: A method is provided for counteracting a roll moment in a vehicle rollover event. A potential occurrence of the rollover event is detected over an outside wheel. The potential rollover occurrence event is detected when a tire lateral force is greater than a lateral acceleration force. A braking torque is applied to at least one outside wheel (rear outside, front outside or both outside wheels) for producing a longitudinal wheel slip on the at least one outside wheel wherein the longitudinal wheel slip increases a longitudinal force acting on the at least one outside wheel, cooperatively producing a vehicle yaw for off setting an oversteering condition. The peak lateral friction is reduced between a tire coupled to the at least one outside wheel and an underlying road surface in order to reduce the peak lateral friction and the roll moment.

  • Patent number: 7278694
Abstract: An anti-lock brake controller that is operable, upon detecting a potential wheel lock-up situation during a vehicle braking cycle, to cycle apply and dump valves associated with vehicle rear wheels continuously between apply and dump modes to determine an estimated maximum friction wheel slip. The controller then is further operable to utilize the estimated maximum friction wheel slip to determine reference velocities that are used to continuously control apply and dump valves associated with the vehicle front wheels to optimize vehicle braking.

  • Patent number: 7165008
Abstract: A method is provided for detecting a rollover event of a vehicle. A lateral kinetic energy of the vehicle is determined in response to vehicle longitudinal velocity and vehicle side slip angle. A lateral acceleration of the vehicle is measured. A rollover potentiality index is determined in response to the lateral kinetic energy and the lateral acceleration. A rollover index is determined by weighting the rollover potentiality index by a factor of the lateral acceleration. A comparison is made to determine if the rollover index is above a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7134082
Abstract: A method for individualizing an Internet/Intranet global directory and for adaptively changing the global directory structure based upon the individual alterations of multiple users. The method provides a default computer directory of prearranged files on a server computer. Client directory customization data is then provided to the server computer. With this information, the default directory is reconfigured into an individualized Internet/Intranet directory by modifying a copy of the default Internet/Intranet directory based upon the directory customization data. Further aspects include the step of updating the client directory customization data based upon user inputs; the step of collecting a history of client directory customization data; or the step of updating the default computer directory based on a history of client customization data.
