Publication number: 20100074116Abstract: A system and method that create, manage, and maintain a wireless network. The system and method automatically monitor the wireless network and determine an operating status of one or more devices associated with the network. If a determination is made that a device requires attention because of an operating status determined, the system communicates a notification to a designated user providing notice of the operating status. The system may create a proxy of a non-responsive device such that other devices in the network are deceived when communicating with a non-responsive device. The system may be located by a server to enable remote management of the wireless network via the Internet. The system and method enable the creation of scenes and timed events for devices associated with the network. Information tables that provide controller set-ups regarding how the controller communicates within the network may be stored.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2008Publication date: March 25, 2010Applicant: Wayne-Dalton Corp.Inventors: Yan Rodriguez, Ben Garcia

Publication number: 20070146118Abstract: A network operator radio module (NORM) configured to be removably attached to a barrier operator comprises a transmitting antenna, a receiving antenna, a transceiver antenna, and a microcontroller. The module communicates with a communication network that comprises various nodes configured by a network controller module and a network communication module. Each node may be associated with a network appliance, and may be remotely controlled by sending a suitable function code to the module via local command signals. Furthermore, various local remote transmitters and keyless entry transmitters are configured to transmit function codes to control the module and the associated various network appliances.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2007Publication date: June 28, 2007Inventors: Yan Rodriguez, Ben Garcia

Publication number: 20060267409Abstract: An uninterruptible power source (UPS) for supplying power to a barrier operator when mains power has failed is disclosed. The UPS includes a UPS controller for detecting and responding to a mains power failure and capable of generating a plurality of control signals. A backup power source and an up-converter is connected to the UPS controller, wherein the up-converter increases the voltage of the backup power source when needed. A switch is responsive to one of the plurality of control signals of the UPS controller and toggles the operator barrier between the up-converter and the mains power source, and awakens the operator via a standby receiver power line. Another embodiment awakens the operator anytime a UPS receiver receives a preamble of a wireless transmission signal. Auxiliary lighting may also be associated with the UPS and/or photo-electric safety devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2005Publication date: November 30, 2006Inventors: Willis Mullet, Yan Rodriguez, Paul VanDrunen, Richard Bardin, Ben Garcia

Publication number: 20060104291Abstract: A network bridge device that links a wireless network and a wired network to one another. The bridge includes a wireless signal transceiver adapted to receive and send signals in a wireless format, and a wired signal transceiver adapted to receive and send signals in a wired format. A bridge controller is connected to both transceivers and converts the wireless signals from the first format to the second format and the wired signals from the second format to the first format. The bridge may also be configured to communicate with a wireless network control device and/or a wired network control device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2004Publication date: May 18, 2006Inventors: Yan Rodriguez, Ben Garcia

Patent number: 6646967Abstract: A machine-non-readable defect is formed on a CD-ROM by re-modulation of a master cutting laser beam recorder. Re-modulation in specific program areas creates non-readable marks which interfere with any attempt to image-copy the CD-ROM. The non-machine-readable marks can be followed by valid data which may be used as keys to verify the authenticity of the CD-ROM. The machine-non-readable defect is invisible to the human eye to thwart detection and subsequent reverse engineering attempts.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1997Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Denon Digital LLCInventor: Ben Garcia
